I went to sign on to the cycling team's FB page to see what was up and was locked out. No soup for me.

Fun Facts:

--I once lived on Mockingbird Lane.

--Mockingbird is the state bird of Tennessee

@50 sec mark -

Phew. I am beat. Today's double metric half was SUPPOSED TO BE an A- ride. The problem is that there was no A ride, so a bunch of A riders crashed (not literally) my A- ride with predictable results. Pace was fast. We also had five flats, which I am blaming on those stupid chestnuts which were all over the roads. One rider broke his RD cable and was stuck in the 12t in back, so I sent him home on the flattest roads I could think of.

Anything happen while I was out riding?

WhyFi 10-07-17 11:33 AM

Predictably, it rained on my ride. It wasn't so bad though - I don't know why I won't start a ride in the rain when I clearly don't mind getting caught in the rain. :foo:

Also, my ride took me over a mix of roads and some bike paths. Strangely, @55° and rain, I saw about as many cyclists on the road as usual, but a vanishingly small fraction of the riders usually on the paths.

As usual Velo Vol continues to provide leadership to us shiftless addictionites by keeping us informed how the hurricane will affect the greater Knoxville area and giving troubled addictionite BillyD an assignment to photograph a mockingbird so that he will finally have purpose in his life. He is also giving useful information about the state bird of Tennessee which is coincidentally a mockingbird.

I rode before having any coffee and got a little wet due to unexpected rain and complained about it, I made coffee and drank it. Now I am finishing lunch awaiting more insightful input from Velo vol.

Maybe a few other things related to gravel but I already weighed in on gravel last night.

Wow - that was quick. We applied for passports for the kids, and I renewed mine, on Wed last week. They arrived today.

datlas 10-07-17 11:48 AM

Oh, the evil tree nuts that caused all the flats today are from the Eastern Black Walnut tree. I mistakenly blamed chestnuts. I have nothing against them.

Evil indeed. Our tree had a bumped crop of them last year but almost none this year, thankfully.

We've not gotten a trace of rain since September 19. Grass is crispy dry.

Partly cloudy and 83F now. I should probably ride today before Nate batters the valley.

Trsnrtr 10-07-17 12:03 PM

Our wind this AM was 22, gusting to 34 mph so i said screw it and did some things here at casa trsnrtr. We've been toying with selling our house so I've been fixing up and doing some long over-due projects. House is starting to look good. Probably end up staying her. ;)

Oh, and by the way, Cubs win. :thumb:

I am looking into buying a pair of Chinese Crabon clinchers to replace my Williams 38s, the front is cracked and they are 5 years old.

A little research suggests Yoeleo is a reputable supplier.

Should I start a thread in the 41?? Or should I wait until after I buy them to see if I made a good choice and/or got a good buy?

Do eeet! The thread, I mean. After you order, but before you receive the wheels. That will give you the greatest number of opinions, the greatest risk and the most unknowns. A trifecta.

I'd be interested in looking in to the Workwell options as their frames have been generally well-received.

Yes, the fifth. I posted that on the first, when they lost to Carolina.
