Zeriscaping. The house is great, but the yard is crap, so the half-assed projects are getting yanked, the crappy plants are getting yanked, and it’s all getting replaced with Mexican river rock. The pictures will occur.
I've got some nasty spots that might benefit from a similar treatment. Pics yes please. |

Segue-ing... we went to a bicycle film night last night, and it was fantastic! 13 films of various lengths with some really beautiful stuff in there. The reason why the picture above sparked this post was that one of the films was about a guy riding single-speed MTB in a 24-hour race and they had timelapse scene of bike lights criss-crossing the ridge that formed part of the course. It was just gorgeous. Equally up there was a short film about a photographer (also the film narrator) who published a book on the sub-cultures in cycling in London. Some truly fantastic images. Then there were the guys on tall bikes riding fire trails!! And with touring luggage on board! And even with a second rider on the "bottom floor", so to speak. I was amazed at the evening. Machka booked it thinking it might be worthwhile, but we wouldn't have been surprised if it had been danky alt-stuff. But it was broad, hugely entertaining and captivating, and worth every cent of the admission prices of $25 a head. The presentation was created by a New Zealand group, and will be touring only Tasmania, Canberra and Victoria. The curation was top-notch, and we are already looking forward to next year's. |

A rock garden, literally.

In my case, the rock is for building foundations for the raised garden I mentioned last week. Excavate to bedrock, which is frequently very near or on the surface, and build your foundations with rock. Our whole house was built by this method. In modern times, they go with block above the stone. We're thow-backs.

Good morning!
Makes me miss coasting. Speaking of miss, anyone know what happened to @unfiltered dregs? |

Good morning to you. Is the sun up yet?

You may wish to take some melatonin at your desired bedtime, it may help with resetting your clock. In the meantime, can you go for a run before the excitement starts?
And no time for a run; 4:00 was the target time to get up. Need to be down at the site at 5:00. I did get in 43 miles in the last five days and will get to 50+ tomorrow. And today may be over ten miles of walking anyway. |

I used to do the melatonin but managed to get off of it. I’ve been good until this trip, and I think it’s just the excitement. Y’all may not remember me waking up at 3-4 for all my races back in the day.

Sad news. Remember the patient who went to Italy 2 years ago and gave me a piece of the banner from the Giro and went again last year and gave me a Giro jersey? He just passed away. He was one of my favorite patients.
