If I close my eyes real hard and click my heels together, maybe.

George Carlin’s Views on Aging
Do you realize that the only time in our lives when we like to get old is when we’re kids? If you’re less than 10 years old, you’re so excited about aging that you think in fractions.
‘How old are you?’ ‘I’m four and a half!’ You’re never thirty-six and a half. You’re four and a half, going on five! That’s the key.
You get into your teens, now they can’t hold you back. You jump to the next number, or even a few ahead.
‘How old are you?’ ‘I’m gonna be 16!’ You could be 13, but hey, you’re gonna be 16! And then the greatest day of your life … . You become 21. Even the words sound like a ceremony . YOU BECOME 21. YESSSS!!!
But then you turn 30. Oooohh, what happened there? Makes you sound like bad milk! He TURNED; we had to throw him out. There’s no fun now, you’re Just a sour-dumpling. What’s wrong? What’s changed?
You BECOME 21, you TURN 30, then you’re PUSHING 40. Whoa! Put on the brakes, it’s all slipping
away. Before you know it, you REACH 50 and your dreams are gone.
But wait!!! You MAKE it to 60. You didn’t think you would!
So you BECOME 21, TURN 30, PUSH 40, REACH 50 and MAKE it to 60.
You’ve built up so much speed that you HIT 70! After that it’s a day-by-day thing; you HIT Wednesday!

Thanks for the condolences, all.
Man, I'd really love to get some fresh air and to clear my head a bit with a ride, but a) I'm in the process of baking a pecan pie for tomorrow and b) the boy and the wife prolly want me around. The kid is taking it pretty hard. We told him this morning that Lucy probably wasn't going to come back from the vet. Not surprisingly, he latched on to the "probably" and held out hope. When I walked back through the door without her, he became more and more crestfallen with each answer to each question: No Lucy? Is she coming home later? Never? Is she still alive?
It was rough.![Frown](https://www.bikeforums.net/images/smilies/frown.gif)

It must have been a visit to A&S then. It's is bit of a shock going there.

I was going through my files and stumbled on these pictures. I remember I dug this bike out from under a pile of old stuff in the attic when I first took an interest in road cycling in 2012. It had belonged to my Dad. He rode it a lot. He was a strong rider, and fast! (Gosh, I wish I'd had the opportunity to ride with him!)
That's a Raleigh Reynolds 505 frame with a Campagnolo groupset and wheelset. Wow! Look at the tall headtube on that thing! Haha! The quill stem and the handlebars are classic Cinelli. I don't remember what saddle height I had settled on. That is a size 56 or 54 frame, I think. Those are 27" wheels. Did I get that right? Anyways, I ride a much smaller frame nowadays, of course. (I'm 5'7" with a freakishly long bike inseam and stumpy short, short torso.)
Yes, I know, I ruined the aesthetics with that silly cyclocomputer. I cracked the the original Campy brakehoods, too. But the Campy gruppo is still otherwise intact. I rode this bike every day for a year, I think -- never cleaned or lubed because I didn't know any better.
I left this in the care of my older brother back home. I recently asked him to have it fully restored on my dime. I found an acceptably accurate set of replica decals on ebay. They arrived last week. I plan to send them home by the end of this week.

Looks more like shock than joy. A&S is the subforum Advocacy & Safety.

Lester, great pic. You are the consummate hard man. Riding in sub-0 and snow in Wyoming to blistering heat in Arizona. Dude, you rock.

Gnome, I can almost make you out in that landscape pic, but that’s ok, I blew it up.
