Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

A large hawk should have little trouble getting a squirrel up to a tree branch.

This eagle had no trouble getting a fish up to this tree branch.

Since everyone is wondering, yes my local college football team(Kennesaw State Owls) won their FCS playoff game against the Samford university Bulldogs 28-17. They move on to play Jacksonville (AL) State next week.

@datlas congrats on the awesome mileage but what else would you expect from a Doug?

Small and portable, silver, I'm trying to remember if it had blue on it like a Park tool. It seemed like a standard one and nothing fancy. He said to be careful because the pin had a tendency to fall out.

LoP's store might have them but he's at lunch and the Performance website is broken.

I've just been up to my neck in work. I've nothing to report except that -- for the first time and out of sheer boredom -- I accepted an invitation to a party last night (that's Saturday night, here).

The host had one of those bikes with a frame of mysterious provenance. I'm guessing it's from China. I didn't have the opportunity to ask him about it.

I had a hawk drop a baby rabbit on my windshield once. I was driving along a raised embankment and the hawk swooped down on the fore slope to get the little thing but then couldn't get enough lift to clear my car and dropped the rabbit right on my windshield.

So, I don't know a hawk's lifting limit but if he needs lift quick, he'll drop his load.

Yep. I was wondering about that as much as you were wondering about the new Monster Energy Cup Champion.

Rode at dawn today. It was not a beatdown, it was a lovely ride. I saw the sun come up. And also a deer.

Sedona was really nice, I highly recommend it.

Just fueled up in Indio on Mexican food and a margarita (for me). Also a date shake.

Next stop Joshua Tree, where we'll get the doggies.

And then home from there.

That was last week's news and I watched it on national tv. This was today and on locally on ESPN 3. Kudos to Truex and furniture Row racing. Since they are from Denver (or at least Colorado) that must have been cool to have a local team win just like we did here.

Not much of a NASCAR fan for a while now but did get over to talledega in 2012 or 2013 for the May race. Went to pocono in about June 2003 when I still lived in Ohio. That track was not real good to watch from the start finish line since you could barely see them on the opposite side of the track.

Enjoy your weekend.
