Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Well, not really, there is the Santa Cruz Blur full squish MTB with the Enve wheels I'll be riding by next weekend, that might sustain me til like December.

I have to seriously start cramming tomorrow on the PRS/Peavey electric guitar/amp rig tomorrow for my rehearsal with this vaporware band in 10 days. I hope I have a wiggle left for that after riding 50 road miles in the AM.

Agree. Partly because I felt so tentative/fragile. Hope that improves.

It should. My first ride starting back up this spring was 15 miles (so shorter than some of my runs) and going above 17mph felt harrowing. That cleared up in a few rides.

info you have been craving

After 6 weeks on the DL, I got back at it in late June and am trying to match or beat my time on a ride up North. Luckily my trip got pushed back 3 weeks so I will be doing it most likely on August 11th. The results of my practice runs are below. My personal best on the practice runs down here in GA is only since I got my Garmin watch in August 2016 so not a ton of data to compare but here are my results. I did well today and hope I can gain time next week. I need to do better because last year I was 1:40 short of my goal. Lots of work to get the time down. I have learned a bit as I have used the practice runs and analyzed the data.

Date minutes:seconds behind

7/08 3:23
7/14 1:18
7/22 2:05

7/28 :05
8/04 ?

Initially just coasting along felt weird. As did coping with traffic.

That's two years ago. How much data do you need for a route?

I may slip into a post-ride bicycle coma.

Also: did Velo Vol drug that woman or deploy hypnosis?

Wrong poster.

The only drugs I have are for rheumatoid, and sadly that's not going to cut it with women.

What are you all planning for when I hit 100,000 posts? Are you ordering me a big cake? Will bikini clad women bicycle racers jump out of it?

Do It All Again

You came in from walking
I knew from your face something wasn’t right
I can tell the difference when you’re low
LIke a summer morning from a winter’s night

Why you cryin what’s the matter now baby
You told me you’d been thinking bout our past
How maybe if we’d just done a couple things different
Better things mighta come to pass

You’re overthinkin baby
I should know cause I do it myself all the time

Don’t you worry baby
Bout coulda woulda shoulda mighta been Cause when I’m looking back across
All these years that we’ve been together
I don’t think for but a moment and I know thenI’d do it all again (in a minute)
Do it all again (girl I’m all in it)

You get yourself just too upset my darling
About all these things that never go as planned
Well it’s a good thing we can’t see future
Cause I’m pretty sure that’s something
We could never stand

(Bridge)But if you’re second guessing
Girl if you even think I’d could have a doubt
Baby you oughta know by now
Your love’s the one thing I couldn’t live without
Oh I couldn’t live without it

Couldn’t live withoutcha girl uh uh no
Well that’s right

I know that you’re looking for an answer
Girl I hope you can find some peace of mind
All I know is from the first day that I metcha all those years ago
I surely knew that I had just found mine

So don’t you worry baby
Bout coulda woulda shoulda mighta been Cause when I look back down across
This long journey we’ve been on together
I can’t tell you if we’ll get there or just when
I don’t think for but a moment and I know then
I know then

I’d do it all again (in a minute)
Do it all again (girl I’m all in it)
I’d do it all again (yes I would)
Do it all again (baby I love you)
I love you, love you, love you
Baby I love you
Yes I do

And I’d do it all again
like.
Michael McDonald? Sure, but it's not 1985. Dan Fogelberg would be good but he's dead. No, you need Dave Mathews to do this and add some horns to sex it up. @Velo Vol can help you with that If he has any ability to have a lucid moment. Twitter has eaten his brain.

No BS that is really good stuff. You are too fat and old for stardom and cycling but you know that.
