Our senator got team kits made up. Half tempted to order a jersey, assuming only hers says "The Senator" on it.

Quick medical rant:
I use a cpap machine and recently bought two nasal pillows and two air filters from my local supplier. Got the bill yesterday and noticed that Medicare had been charged around $500.
These can be purchased online without a prescription. The highest prices that I found were $9.99 for the filters and $24.99 for the nasal pillows. Both can be found cheaper yet.
So Medicare got charge $500 for $50 worth of supplies.
Yeah, our system isn't broke... much.

I don't expect Medicare will actually PAY $500 despite the "charge" but you never know.

Whats also sad is that as a conscientious tax payer, I could pay the $50 for the supplies, myself. But as a greedy person, my cost is $6.66 after Medicare so let the gubmint pay the rest.

I’ll have tos see if I can find a Medicare statement and see what was actually paid last time. But, since I don’t itemize deductions, I’m pretty sure it’s all gone to the shredder.

It's also quite possible that Medicare will only pay a small percentage of the charge. That happens frequently.

It’s still a bad setup where the supply house has to bill 10x the retail cost to recoup $50.

I don't want to get too P&R here but the problems with our third-party payor healthcare system and health insurance tied to employment etc. is a huge clusterfark IMO. There is no "perfect" system but ours certainly is not so great by most measures, especially value. Sad!

I found an old EOB for identical supplies from last Spring that shows the payout from Medicare was pretty close to retail prices. After my share, the supply house made a little more than mailorder but not a lot.
Still, it's a strange system to fathom.

In cycling related content, I have denuded my Gianni Motta and am preparing it for my 2015 Record group that I've been trying to sell. I've got ~$1700 in the group but haven't been able to sell it even at firesale prices. So, since my '78 Record group has bolts rusting, friction shifts, weighs a ton, etc., the conversion has begun to the all carbon parts of the Campy Record group and the carbon K-wing bars.
New Campy UltraTorque BB cups are ordered and the frame is going in to have the BB shell faced this morning. I weighed the bike before stripping of the parts at 21.83#. It will be interesting to see what it weighs after conversion. I'm going to piece out the old Record group, bars, wheels, etc.
