Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I never thought he was condescending but he disappeared a year or so after i arrived here. Perhaps i didn't notice it or was too stupid to recognize it.

The guy that he rode with posted his ride to Strava - just under 6 hours and no mention of bam's demise. Looks like they wrapped up a few hours ago and it's about 2 hours transit time back, so probably not had a moment to unwind, if he's even home, yet.

Could still demise on the way home or when he gets there.

I’m keeping my dibs open.

I rode today and was relatively pain free. 13.16 miles the heat robbed about 1 mph from my average speed. 80° dew point is as high as I have ever seen. Pathetic speed but it's better than nothing.

In Rock Springs, Wyoming's wet season if it was cold enough you could ride the trails, but once it got up close to 30° ambient, the sun could heat that frozen mud up enough to swallow your bike whole.

February 16, 2017 I was gonna hit some gravel and I thought it would be cold enough but nope, had to walk back outta there and scrape my shoes and tires off once I got back to the pavement.

Hard to put a price on the sexiness of a fully internal cockpit.

For a full time bike for sure!

Im considering building up a soloist, or buying one, but I think my wife will kill me. Especially since we’re shelling out a ton for a pool next March

Not to mention his propensity for crashing. I thought of that on my ride this morning. It's nice we're all comfortable talking about him like he's not here.

My sources tell me BAM is still breathing, and finished his ride yesterday in under 6 hours.

Yep. No argument from me certainly, and even she had enough headache with her departed SystemSix that she never again wants any more integrated nonsense than necessary. The goal here is to have two bikes, and this will likely sit on fat 650s so the Topstone can be used for like riding to the gym and as a backup.

We live along the foothills of a mountain range that is most definitely bear territory. It's not uncommon for people to post pics of bears swimming in their backyard pool or spa. I expect poop happens, too.
