Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I did the stupid 10k yesterday. Worst race I’ve ever run I think. New shoes I got a month ago kill my feet, it was incredibly humid and I lost two minutes sitting down and taking a sock off one foot mid race because I couldn’t take it any longer.

I’m behind on riding / running this year, but it was ridiculously slow, slower pace than the half marathon I ran in April. Also went out too fast, ran the first mile in 6:47 and blew up on the hills. If not for that, I had a chance to put in the 44;00 time I wanted. Oh well

This is the first time I will be able to see the Eagles’ opening game since at least 2015. #Bittersweet.

woke up at 3 am to rain. Looking at the radar it seemed another hour it would clear up. So I reset me alarm for an hour. Each time it went off I would check the radar and each time it looked like one more hour and I would be good.

Now the sun is up and I don’t have time to ride.

The trainer wakes up my wife and my daughter so I wouldn’t be able to get on that til they wake up, which is also too late to do anything.

Sigh, atleast the wife is going to get a run in.

Prison escapee apparently stole a car and got through the perimeter and allegedly now in Phoenixville, just north of us.

So you are forfeiting the top of the podium then?

Seems like people are escaping prisons more lately. I feel like once every 2 weeks someone escapes down here. I don’t remember that frequency when I was younger.

Unlikely, based on weather.

Unclear if more escapes or just more media coverage. Maybe a bit of both.

Our club century is today. It’s already raining. Supposed to be heavy at times off and on most of the day.

I wonder how many “escapes” are just people walking off work detail.

Several years ago, Pearl Izumi went to a more athletic fit. Using some older stuff that I had that fit, I ordered the same models and size only to receive clothing that would have only fit a 20 year old European. I emailed PI and a nice lady called me and told me that they had gone to more athletic sizing. I pointed out that fat old guys ride, too, and she admitted that due to a lot of feedback, they now realized the error of their ways and was working on revamping their sizing. The next years clothing line was set so it was going to be basically two years to put their sizing back where it was before the change.

Haven't bought PI since.

Don't forget to add in enough miles in case of a last minute LAJ upload.
