Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I can report the Shoe Goo held up fine on a 2 hour road ride today. Didn't feel like riding the mtb so I put the SPD pedals on the Gunnar. Big tube was $4.

Hmmm. Maybe I'll fix the old Sidis and send them to The Ancestral Home, so I don't have to shuttle shoes from coast to coast.

I'll bet it depends on position as well. Like, mine is set up for never spending more than an hour in position. I can't see very far past my hands and have to lift my head up every so often to make sure I don't ride into something. The tighter that hip angle is - the more difficult. Taken to the extreme - IP/TP racing on the track. Basically no caution is given to the comfort of the position, since the event is only a few minutes.

I eat pretty clean most of the time. Most weekdays, I have overnight oats with berries and hard boiled eggs for breakfast, a veggie sandwich for lunch. Some sort of nut butter based snack in the afternoon if I am hungry. Dinners are more variable and often less healthy, although I don't like heavy/creamy/greasy food and sauces as much as my wife.

I worked with a coach this year, and during my VO2 max interval block, he told me to sub my afternoon snack for a bowl of rice. I cooked it in coconut milk and added a little peanut butter. It felt excessive with the carbs, but I was spending three sessions a week doing VO2 intervals, and I executed them fairly well. Was flying after that.

Oh, yes. Tri position is different from TT position, even if they look "similar" compared to a road fit. The tri geeks riding pace lines in their aerobats are in tri position, which is intended to be ridden for 5-6+ hours and then run a marathon. Back in the day, the P2 was intended for Ironman and the P3 was for TT (even though many used the P3 in tri anyway). That probably explains a lot of the back-and-forth here; you're feeling your super-aggressive TT position and wondering how tri geeks deal with it, when... they don't.

I sometimes take a pb&j or just peanut butter sandwich on climbing rides. Peanut butter seems to work and never give me stomach problems.

Cheddar is about as strong a cheese as I eat. I"m a big fan of mozzarella and jack, but enjoy a nice, sharp cheddar too.
I don't touch bacon or ranch

Today was the first time since getting back in the saddle that my ride felt like the good old days. Sure I'm a lot slower but it just had a ho-hum another day in the office kind of ride. I'm not sure why that was.

It was much cooler and was borderline chilly. Only a 66 dew point.
15.12 miles.

You can eat anything you want so long as you burn it off. The more you intake the harder it is to work it off.

Went for a short ride at lunch to get food for my feline overlord. Saw a Delorean DMC driving the other way. It wasn't doing 88mph. Still unusual to see in real life.
