Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Final shower activity of the day completed. Yes Virginia, this is how it is in the subtropics if one is just a little bit active throughout the day. Three showers is about the norm. For me. And if one is white. The locals don't sweat.

My wife just informed me, via the housekeeper, that all of our neighbors think we're either laundering money or running drugs. Due to our relative wealth. They apparently aren't aware of the 'rich Gringo' thing. We are indeed the odd Gringos, living out here in the boonies, far away from all the other Gringos in the area. Thousands upon thousands of them, clustered in the city and at the beach. Wondering why more of the locals don't speak English. There are two others in Tixkokob. One who is married to a local woman and one who is single and actively looking for a wife. And relatively new here

Edit: Just a few days ago one of the neighbors told my wife that another couple is suspect. Because he has been seen out walking the streets at 3AM, and they have another piece of property they're planting maguey on. Little did she know she was being pumped, being led into the trap of self-incrimination.

Actually the worst one is the lower back which happened in about 1983 when I was knocked off of my motorcycle by another rider. This week a friend had to undergo back surgery so I think about that sometimes.

Well, crap. I guess that means no IRL ride on Sunday.
I think you can ride if you put on some sunscreen.

One or more of the drugs I take does that.

It used to be that I didn't worry about burning unless I was in the sun for a few hours. Now that's a problem.

Another reason I wouldn't fare well on the seas (unless it was cloudy).

For the doctors, I saw talk earlier of how long you count as an "existing" patient. I got an appointment at the facility here where AG saw the dermatologist. Apparently I had been there when I lived here before, because they had me in their system and I got an appointment. AG called for an appointment and was told they weren't taking new clients. Am I not a "new client" even after a decade? Or was the person she talked to just a jackass?

There's a non-0% chance we wake up some morning to something like this.

It's not brand dilution that would be the problem. It's payout dilution. Adding non-TV market schools would dilute the per school share of TV contracts, obviously.

Would love sailing that type thing. That ship has likely sailed, however.

Wife got a serious case of upgradeitis today. We agreed that when we are both bored it's a dangerous thing.

105 Di2 with Enve 45 wheels and Conti 5000 S tires added.

77F at 0700 is not the norm around these parts. 70F is the usual benchmark for a hot day.

Thankfully a cool front is expected to move in later today.

Woohoo, got 5 wreaths on the overnight ride. New record for me. Still 3 guys out on the course when I left, but I think only one of them has a chance at taking 'em from me.
