Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Saturn report: good news/bad news. Good news is mechanic let it pass and no repairs needed. Bad news is he says this is its last year, as the frame/suspension interface in the rear is rusted beyond repair.
Stop by Harbor Freight for an angle grinder and a MIG welder, hit a supply shop for some 1/8" coupons and the Saturn could be every bit as good as that blue TR6 in TX

There's probably a way to fix it but it might be cost prohibitive. Good fabricators can do amazing stuff. Gotta admit, though, I have no experience with saving rusted out cars. The only ones we see here are brought in from salt states.

There's a young lady in the greasy spoon eating bacon as one would eat corn on the cob. One hand holding each end, taking tiny little bites, working back and forth across the slice.

Pretty weird but also kinda hot.

Pour one out. There's an SW I run past about half my days with a mismatched hatch. Wondered if it was going to outlast yours.

Even here where it's not truly Actual North. It'd be like a three hour drive to NM, same latitude as TN.

Even I thought McDaniels wouldn't get fired until the end of the year at the earliest, and I was one of the lowest on him at time of hiring.

Just tried to spin for 45 mins in my neighborhood. Wind is gnarley today, and like a dumbass I took mojos madone out. Wind blew me all over the place.

Checkpoint is in the shop, possible bent hanger and getting the new bars plus wrap put on.

Also decided to give the WTB exposure tires a try. Manager of trek seemed pretty excited about them and wanted to hear what I thought of them. Designed for road and hard packed dirt. I’ll throw the GR1 on what ever wheel set I decide on.

17 miles this week and I have been home all week. Sad, but now I am actually itching to ride.

Went to a bike shop in Richmond that is known for having bars in stock. Eric they had the Whickey spanos in stock. I was itching for them but they wanted 280 which was more than I wanted to spend. This is the shop I bought the cervelo bars last year which they had those in stock too, however, the price jumped 100.00 dollars so that was a no. FSA for the win.

very heavily in the lab this M/W supporting the team w some syntheses for a big order. of course the barrage of emails and messages doesn't stop so I'm hopping back and forth to my laptop on the bench. brief moment of respite right now as I enjoy a coffee and a leftover Reese's cup from Halloween (fun size).

usually I complain about too much desk work/meetings and not being in the lab as much as I used to be. but now im trying to keep many balls in the air and running around like a chicken w it's head cut off. I like it this way more. time goes by fast

that's a good sign! hope you can get some rides in that aren't too windy. I hate the wind, would rather climb if it's gonna be >> 10 MPH and exposed. Santa Ana weather patterns are dying down around here which will be nice (less wind). Not that I'm going to take advantage of it much as I'll still be mostly on the trainer, but still.

I see the word LAB and instantly think METH. I’m thinking that you don’t work in a meth lab.

I do not work in a meth lab lol. There are many applications of chemistry that go beyond methamphetamine synthesis, believe or not lol. In our lab we make nanoparticles.
