Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Pisser....

I was mates with Damian Grundy when he ran Bike House back in the early 90s.....told me one day about "This young kid I've found in Lower Plenty who can just ride the arse off anyone." The rest is history, as they say.

Tasmyn has got to a world champs final I think. Atleast one. Porbably came last, or no better than second last.

That translates into gold in the pool. See the media go ape over Brooke Hanson's multi gold at world short course. That standard is comparing bay crits to the Tour.

Bay crits < Tour = Shortcourse swimming < le tour

The only reason we go nuts over swimmers is cos they bring home a shiny colour medal, yet their "pool of competitors" is as small as the nation of Burkina Faso. Tho the tour de Faso is a hugly esteemed event, where smart neo-imperial Belgies running 2005 Ridleys and dura-ace, are running agianst riders on vintage Gitanes on suntour gruppos.

Hell Ride > Tour de Faso

P.S not a fan of Tamsyn, was a fan of Pittman PD (pre-drama). I think both her coaches, King, or whatever his name, who owns KingClub Re-Creation gym in Sandy, he put on far too much muscle on her. And Rawlinson obviously prefers Wrestling matches to sex, or kinky wrestling sex and has not got her to strip off all that extra weight. She is far too heavy.

Phil King was her coach, evereyone knows he is married to Debbie Flintoff.

That's a bit harsh thunder. Surely you know that Brooke Hanson, Tamsyn Lewis and Jana Pittman are the greatest Australian atheletes ever. In comparison, Bradman, Dawn, Phar Lap and Herb Elliot suck.

Everything those media hoes do is so newsworthy it deserves FRONT PAGE COVERAGE! I wish they all just SHUT THE FUDGE UP!

ps the Swimming World Short Course champs are the worth less than even the Glenview Crescent Crits. They get more Olympic and world champions at Glenview Cres.

It was still a pro championship. McEwen was still an amatuer and won the 'Open' event, similar to Will Walker this year. Stevo was Aussie Road champ. I think they were still giving out the cack green jerseys with the chest bands then as champion jerseys then!

That's right. Festina wouldn't let him wear the nasho jersey in Europe. Reckoned it wasn't prestigious enough.

Trevorrow had a shocking sprint jersey for the Bay Crits. I think Trent Wilson was just happy to wear t, it could have been babies vomit.

Wilson, Trent, he of the 100 metre breakaway in the Giro that lasts for 3 kilometres and only serves to ruin the paceline.

Jock I rang about that raceline frame, long gone.

I can get one of those pretty cheap. Have a long list for e-bay together now, should come out about even. Even if it's not the perfect size, it will help me see where to head any way.

Cheers, Aaron.

And both got schooled by a Kiwi dud, which of course is quickly overlooked by the media who continue to talk them up.

I'd like to declare my support for Torah Bright, Aussie snowboard chick in the Winter Olympics. Anyone else on board with that? (pun not intended)

Don't even get me started on Kyle van der Hype or Crap or Kuip or whatever his name is. How overrated is that bloke?

How long do ya reckon some of these duds would last in the cycling, hockey or swim teams?

'Oh deary me, it's such a joy to be here at the opening ceremony. This is what it is all about. Not results. The Australian tax payer should get down on their hands and knees in gratitude that they have to support me in my endeavours to just be here' BARF. SPEW. Rant over.

athletics bores the crap out of me, I don't even take an interest in it, swimming isn't much better and we have to put up with that constantly too.

Interesting story...

Very pretty young Mormon girl.....so the beautiful, clean-living Aussie angle is a sponsor's wet dream.. Family moved to Salt Lake in 2004, I think. Currently the "face" of Roxy wimmin's surf brand, has an X-Box game named after her.

Her career is being very carefully stage managed in the lead up to the Olympics....journos are being told you can take as many pix as you want, but she won't be doing any interviews or answering ad hoc questions.

Sign of the times we live in, I guess. If she wins gold, we may only hear about what it was like through "approved" channels....read: glossy mags, Today Tonight puff piece, etc etc.
