Bloody hot at the track last night but a decent turnout none the less.
Jock is looking strong in B-grade and demonstrated this by riding away from us on the most painful race of the night, not even sure it had a name, 15 lap, intermed 3 lap sprints to qualify for the 15th lap sprint. Left me dry baoking on the side of the track.
A-grade is beckoning I think..!
Pshaw had a decent night claiming a -/1/4/3/- in second week in B-grade. Tactical nous is non-existent!
Climbo did a great job of commysair but need to work hard on whistle blowing and orgaising 8 yr olds to ring the bell and not turn the lap counter too early!
All in all a fun (but hot) night.
Oh, and pairing me as Cheys derny was not smart handicapping.
Extract "faster, faster, attack, get that wheel, faster" Reply "Your dreamin, the derny has run out of juice"
I sould mention Chey is a 16? yr old girl.

jeesuz it was dry last night. 2/-/1/1/-. That derny race sim was bloody good fun.
And I have been flicked to A Grade. It could turn out to be a bit interesting seeing as how I've only raced 6 or 7 track events in my life. Climbo might have his work cut out for him in his new role as fuhrer.
And Paul, there's no shame in running out of steam in front of Chey: she's been running guys ragged on the track for a couple of season now. BTW she's only 15

How dumb would it be to;
Add a 14t rear, allowing 14t or 15t selection via flip-flop wheel.
Use the 49t i aquired for training i.e 49x15 then drop down to 48x14/15 for race nite?

Does daylight saving make life easier to fit in more cycling?
My thoughts are to get up earlier when its cooler, and other cyclist are on the road, and the joggers for a bit of eye candy.

Plus your wheel may not accept double fixed, does it have lockring threads both sides?

14/15 is good, especially if you have 48/49/50/51 sprockets to give you inchgear steps
48x15 is ~86, good for standing start one-lap
50x15 is ~88, good all-purpose gear for windy nites
48x14 is ~90, good for enduro events but will squash that massive jump you've got
49,50,51 x 14 good for pursuits if you're strong enough to crank out the watts
Normally you won't need the odd numbered rings (49 & 51) because one inchgear is negligable. But if you're feeling slightly off it could pay to go down just a little, opposite if you've overdone the EPO
Having spewed all that diatribe I couldn't think of anything worse than dicking around with gears all night. If I was me I'd pick a GP gear (say 50x15) and stick with it while I learnt some racecraft. Leave the dickin around for your mechanic once you've turned pro.

I'm such a loser I made a gearchart in Excel and had it laminated and it lived in my toolbox. Guys like Matt Allan, Troy Clarke, Stephen Pate, Todd Wilksch etc etc had rings and cogs stacked like 50c coins....any gear you wanted to 2 decimal places!!
Nothing like the adrenaline trying to change a ratio with 5 minutes before a wheelrace final.

short track XC last night out at St ives. good fun, but bloody hot! managed a 7th from 14 in C grade, happy with that seeing as im still in base training phase. nice fun track as well.
back onto the sports drink debate that was going on here the other day, has anyone used the horleys sports drink at all? has magnesium in it like endura, so it may be worth a shot and seems to be cheaper per serving. anyone used it?
