Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Predictably is the word you might be looking for! I sat behind Phil for a large part of the race and he just tottled along, chatting along the way. Five of us got a little breakaway happening, leaving Phil stranded with a few guys who didn't have much to offer for the chase. So he just cruised up to us casually, bringing them with him!

He put his first tester in at 30 minutes so i jumped onto his wheel just to get a feel for what he was doing. Two laps later he jammed it up the 'hill' and halved the field. I made it about half way up before secumbing to the urge to assume the foetal position.

Oh yeah, he won. Very small fields across all grades. Bit disappointing.

So fellas, do we laugh off the current situation in Sydney as what happens when Bogans attack, or do we all finally admit that the rot starts from the top and some serious changes need to be made?

Got chased out of riding a ramp in Lakemba in the late 80's buy machete waving guys wanting my GT pro perfomer BMX, been chased along the nature strip/footpath from a "shire" commodore driver yelling F-ing wog (I'm half Croatian, half German) whilst coming home from a lap of the National Park (150-160kay ride, had heaps of energy left)6 months ago???

Sorry to have to add to it. Just sick of it all.

It's the same in Collingwood isn't it? Or Mt Isa? Or anywhere else you wanna name. Australia is truly multicultural. We've got brits, greeks, iti's, yogo's, chinese, maltese, etc, etc, etc. But at the last census it was found that the highest density of any race was the REDNECKS.

They only riot when the Guinness runs out on St.Patricks day. Wouldn't go to Cronulla for fear of sunburn.

We have the same rednecks here in NZ, except it's east/southeast Asians that are the target of their fury, not middle eastern Asians.

There's quite a big leap between dickheads mouthing off and gangs of dickheads attacking each other. Our favourite frothy beverage comes into play here. Funny how rioters always seem to have plenty of beer bottles to hand to use as missiles. A definite case of "instant a$$hole, just add alcohol."

It was supposed to read yugo(slav), but my secretary must have pressed the wrong key again. I must have stern words with her when she gets back from lunch. [edit] you don't suppose a good spanking would be out of order, do you? [/edit]

Seeking Australian or NZ local team jersey. I'm in the US and interested in buying or trading for a cool jersey or two. I'm not into the Pro Team kit deal and I'm bored with my plain stuff. Anybody ride for a local team or club that has a nice team jersey? Please drop a PM if you can help me out with a link to a site or any suggestions. Thanks, JB
