Thanks to everyone who responded. The problem is, my friend's LBS just flat out said it couldn't be done didn't say anything about axle to crown length or lining up the V brake posts. Or maybe they did and it just went over his head.

I mean, my first response when someone says it can't be done is "Why not?". But then my husband will tell you I am a difficult female. :p

Anybody waste hours of their life trying to get ashes tickets? I started at 8:50 (before they went on sale) and quit at 12, hammering the website and the phone line constantly. Didn't even get close. What's worse on the SMH blogs all the pommies bragging they got tons. I'm taking up baseball... :(

mrkott3r 06-01-06 01:42 AM

Mmmm Im pissed off I dint hear about pre ticket sale ballot thing for tickets. Nothing like going down to the cricket. Would have been a great day.

there will be plenty on ebay soon enough.

A biking related problem due to my noobness:
When changing the stem drop (its adjustable yes I am going to change it out) obviously you have to rotate the bars. What position should the bars be in? ie should the bottom straight bit of the drops be parallel to the ground?
I guess its kinda a philosphical question.

I love how the poms think they will win again. It will make their disappointment so much more enjoyable when they dont.

The Aussies should never have lost the last series. Even with stupid tactical decisions by Ponting and the team playing below par they still almost got over the line.

nah Gabe, line it up so the hoods and bend at the top are in the most comfortable position for riding. My drops are at about 30 degrees off flat, and the tops are pretty much perfectly flat with the hoods running in a straight line off the tops.

Wilchemy 06-01-06 02:20 AM

Being an MCC member pays off when it comes to hard to get cricket tix! :D

bbw 06-01-06 02:28 AM

when did this hoods and tops level idea become mandatory? or even fashionable? I've only just graduated to my first ergo setup and flat was never even remotely possible on my old bikes. I've got the new bike set up with the tops/ hoods reasonably horizontal, but it sure took some getting used to and to be honest I've had more wrist soreness lately than I had with the hoods a good quarter of the way around the bend on my Cinelli Giro D'Italia bars on the old bike. The pain could be trade related more than bike, but still, whats the reasoning here?

If those bars are like the ones I had on my OCR, then they're a bit of an awkward shape... ie: if you make the hoods horizontal, the drops point below the RD - or if you make the drops horizontal, the hoods slope away really badly.
In the end, my drops were pointing just below the rear caliper... 'twas the only semi-comfortable compromise I could find.

62vette 06-01-06 02:47 AM

haha, you need to search for some bittorrent downloads and watch some episodes of the show :p

I don't like the camel thing for road riding, I find I can't get enough water through the damn thing in one go. I chuck an extra bottle in one of my back pockets for more than a 3 hr ride.

I only do the camel thing for MTB riding, then I have less weight on the frame.

im hitting the wall at about 3.5 hr mark cos ive only been taking 2 750ml drink bottles out - does anyone have a good setup or experience using the camels? are they comfy...cos god knows they arent stylish:D

Why not just jump off and find a tap?

If you go for the camel pack whack it on under your jersey. then you can claim aero effects on a training ride ;) :D

I am thinking you are right. The list for pbk just gets longer and longer
Did you have any luck with the seatpost? Mine comes loose every once and a while, no matter how hard I tighten it, serrated edges are ok though.

On a positive note I am liking the compact geometry, yeah it isnt the prettiest thing, but I enjoy the handling characterisitics.

Yep, mine used to slip just about every ride. Take it out, clean it and the inside of the seat tube and give it a hit with hair spray. When you refit it, just push it straight in, don't wiggle it side to side. Mine never slipped again.
