they are quite fast rolling though. problem is when you ocme to a corner. they are goodish through sand as well if i recall correctly.

i swapped my front out for a larsen and was much happier.

corners no good? I have Scorpions at the moment, they are fine but a bit too blocky and roll pretty slow. Maybe I'll just get one on the rear forst and see what it's like.

good plan stan. i actually had one come out from under me at speed up at ourimbah the other day on the rear which was a surprise( 1st crash of many that day...). the only other tyre thats done that do me in the same way was a geaz mezcal, which left me with a bruise the size of a plate on my assos ( the mezcal not the crossmark.)

I heard they buy completes and just part them out. Oh, I delivered a beautiful sales pitch for Thylacine today. I guy came over to buy some old parts from me, and saw the tandem. He mentioned he wants a custom bike. He's probably browsing your site as I type this...

I'll let you know about all the great deals on old steel frames at my local shop :)

For instance, this "Pegoretti" (i think) is selling for $150, and I bet it's not much slower than a $7000 Time VXRS.

Thylacine 06-07-06 10:38 PM

Looks like the letter P to me, obviously noninating which part of the frame the things with the Pedals attach to.

Alas, tis not mine, mines red. also , mines seen better days since a black labrador ran out infront of it on a country road at night while i was doing 80 kays :( so its now red with a grey bumper, looks majorly craptacular at the moment :( :(

actually i was more upset at the time for the dog than my car!

Anyone watch Beyond Tomorrow last night? See the aluminium or copper bodied Cobra replicas amongst other things? They were amazing. The bodies were made by some ex fighterplane making Poles to amazing standards. Not a seam in sight. Here's the cars,

I've got an article in a newish magazine on those Cobras. I'd better get around to reading it!

Thylo, I give up - just suggested to another person looking at titanium frames that they look at your stuff. Guy nearly had a heart attack at the price apparently.

He's an architect, our cheap Chinese import friend is an accountant .... hmm, must be something about professions beginning with the letter "A". :(

I was on scorpions and thought they were v.average....just upgraded to Maxxis Rancheros!

Great tyres, ridden in mud & hard-pack. Roll really nice, cant rap them enough!
Talk to Tony, he's got wire-ons but ordered 3 sets of the nice light ones as well. I got a set, he got a set. Theres one left with your name on them!

Another mate put cross-marks on and didnt rate them, roll nice, didnt hook up well.

ive never used them but ive heard they are quite good. a large number of central caost riders seem to use them so there must be somthing in that.

one of my fave front tyres is actually the Tioga Factory XC, the rear is junk, but as a front its jsut awesome. perhaps a little on the slow side, but grip and then some....

Well, I sold two Ti frame last month alone - One to Germany, one to America - and part of the reason I sold those two frames was because I'm the most affordable of the "boutique" (read: Not Made in China) Ti brands, yet the quality is the same as the more wanky brands. If I gave up every time some local had a little teary about the price, I would've given up years ago.

Thanks for dropping my name though, appreciate it.

How did they know what the prices were anyway? They're not on the website.

E is ok. E is for Engineer. When engineers go down hills fast they are thinking about -"weld inclusions, alloy quality, wall thickness, delaminations, fatigue cracks, blah blah blah", AND what parts of their anatomy the broken pointy bits are going to come out of!!!! Where does price come into this equation??

ozbiker 06-08-06 03:18 AM

Hey!! Check this out. http://www.evworld.com/archives/challenge/bikes/
I wonder if I should turn one of my cranks around 180deg and show up on tomorrow morning's bunch ride - just to get feel for it:eek:

Thylacine 06-08-06 03:19 AM

Engineer - (noun) An often bearded social ****** with bad dress sense that has extreme difficulty in dealing with the world unless he or she can break it down into small managable pieces that can be explained through the use of an equation. Often arrogant and dismissive of anyone else who isn't an Engineer, Engineers are also characterised by the ability only to think in absolutes, which is ironic considering shades of grey appear to be their prefered colour of choice, whether it be corduroy jackets, cardigans, overalls or the hulls of ships.
