Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

SBR have a reputation of being a bunch of elite tossers.
If I see an SBR shirt on Beach Road I can't help but TORCH them

All I know is that they went broke and were bought by Links, who obviously decided to retain the SBR name.
I've never bought anything there

They also had Cervelos a few years ago, and have now got them back, only coz Links are a Cervelo dealer

I have a Freedom Machine jersey, an old one, not the green fluro. Riding around beach road and the Freedom Machine boys blow my doors off.

Where is the new shop, did not they move from Prahran, too high rents forced out by the crappy clothes shops

Tomalaris on Roberts...

talkin about setting up a Roberts and Michael Rogers timetrial showdown, he said "in what would be a timetrial promoter's dream" What the folk is he talking about. What, GP Eddy Merckx, what was, GP des Nations... there are no timetrial promoters. Even if he was talking about the Commonwealth games team, Rogers said he is not riding the Commonwealth games.

Since when was Roberts a timetrialler. I think he will be more of a sprinter in a reduced bunch, breakaway stage hunter than a prologue rider. He has never really proven he will be successful in the long timetrials on the continent. He had a brilliant Tour timetrial finishing 17th in the 55 km timetrial stage 19. But his prologue results in the other 2005 races were underwhelming for a pursuit silver medallist in the world championship. The extra distance seems to put him just outside the top 10 in those stages.

Unfortunately I felt a bit like a muppet myself after tonites racing. Didn't control a single race, just plodded along like a fargin demented noob. And had a shocker in the flying 200. The only good move I pulled all night was leaving just before the rain came pouring down on the last event on the card!

Ed, thunder, classic1, and climbo you are all to spend time on the naughty mat for talking about bike related stuff for too long. It took me nearly 3 whole minutes to wade through pages of cycling related diatribe. Totally uncalled for, and very unprofessional. So who is this ONeill geezer anyway?

Indeed. Too much bike stuff. As bad as cricket. So what's the weather prediction for Saturday?

I had a good night, warm up race wasnt too bad, used my head a bit as I could tell I had nuthin in the tank. The leadout in the 2lap hcap was perfect, even though I almost blew it by pulliing up in the back straight cause of leg pain with no-one within 150m
And a slight improvement in the flying 200m left me a happy man..

Oh yeah and its my birthday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How much fun was it watching Michael smash the track record only for Grant to retake it by 2/100th of a second?

Bikes: a few

A two-and-a-half hour special on the recent Jayco Bay Classic series of street criteriums held in and around Geelong, Australia, has been moved to a new time slot of this Sunday at 1pm. Initially, broadcaster Network 10 had scheduled the Bay Classic special to be screened on January 22, but this would conflict with TV coverage of the final stage of the Jacob's Creek Tour Down Under.

Using this site https://www.weather.com.au/nsw/newcastle , which I always rely on to be 100% incorrect, it looks like it's going to be OK.

According to www.weatherzone.com.au we are gonna get wet.

And from the Bureau of Meteorology
Warm and humid. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms. North to northeast winds.

I reckon it'll be just dandy

Funny how a dead calm settled on the track just as Grant entered the finish straight Some guys have all the luck.

I managed to beat Cass Kell's time this time round, thank gawd. Don't think I could've taken it if I'd been beaten by a girl again!

Now If I could just find a way to knock another one, maybe one and a bit, seconds off my time...

Nah, she's just returned from her annual sojourn to Planet Ugly where she received tips on how to be hideous and repulsive from higher order alien beings like this one:

I think we need to go down and practice some technique, magus was 1.2s faster than me, that cant be right..?
I'm gonna put a speedo on the track bike and check max speed on entry etc.
