Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

But Renshaw is probably the reserve for Brown's spot. Olman has to knock one of the hitters off. Roberts and Lancaster will only get stronger as the progress in Europe, Lancaster especially. Not that he is a viable individual pursuiter, but his leadout efforts should be good grounding for Beijing.

I wonder where Lancaster will go in 2007. If Brownie gets a few Protour wins in the Tour of Benelux or Poland he should have the pull to get bigbird across to the other Orangemen.

Yep. GB doesn't quite have the pull of Robbie yet, who can keep Nick Gates in gainful employment when he should be back here truing wheels and selling $600 MTBs.

At least Henk can win races.

Like Criquelion says: "We have to keep Robbie happy. Whatever he wants at Lotto, he gets."

fair to Gatesie, he won a Commonwealth Bank GC and an Australian title, albeit when there was not much competition around and the calendar differ.

He also has won the GP der Volksbank Harsewinkel Anyone who wins Harsewinkel should get respect, one of the unofficual doyennes

And Lancaster has a few world championship gold medals and an Olympic gold on the track, not to mention a Giro win and a maglia Rosa

Is Mr Renshaw on the outer? His ride at the Worlds in the 04 points race was an absolute shocker. 'Lazy' was one of the tamer words being bandied about by a few punters, pundits and people able to chuck a bit of weight around. Strongest looking rider on the track and all he did was follow wheels. It was fairly ordinary.

Then he did himself no favours by bagging the selectors when he was aholed out of the Madison in favour of O'Grady.

He he. Way longer than that, they'd never agree on anything.

In 2002 Gates was at Weisenhof and now the remnants of Weisenhof and Domina Vacenze are now Milram. So, he might have got a spot in Petacchi's train

with the Fassa expats Sacchi, Velo, Ongarato.

I wonder where Matteo Tosatto has gone, i have an inkling he is going to Liquigas.

I remember both of those.....I reckon you're right. More on the outer than Jobie.

Lancaster got his pool room photo with Arms around Cipo, if he ever moves to a team that will pay him enough to allow him to buy a house.

the only thing I would be pissed about if I was Bigbird, was Cipo took both podium girls back to his hotel room that night and would not even give one up

GREAT STORY

2004 Tour of Georgia.

Cipollini was entertaining some "females" note, the plural. He was in a hotel, ready to go upstaits and show his virilty and his southern "re lione" .

Anyhow, some fan just happens to have a Credit Lyonnais stuffed lyon, and he takes a texta marker up to Cipo to sign it. Now Credit Lyonnais is one of the major sponsors of the Tour de France and these stuffed teddybear lyons are only given out to stage winners, or overall winners of classifications, or the GC podium.

Now Cipo was refused an invite to the tour for 3 (or 4) years straight and he was a little pissed with Jean Marie Leblanc to say the least. And he was conducting a media polemic with JML and Amaury Sporting Organisation, the head of the tour.

Cipo takes the fan's doll and the marker pen and draws a set of caricatured genitals on the Credit Lyonnais lyon.
Have not confirmed if he added his signature, or like Prince, and "love symbol" and the man formerly known as Prince, Cipo just has as his signature a set of genitals. Hmmm, I doubt they are flaccid

Melbournians, does anyone know the guys from SBR in Punt Road St Kilda?

Look how they ripped off all the colours, almost the logo, lets say the logo, it is just inverted, mirrored actually, and their store design. Concrete minimalism.

SBR St Kilda. They had the distribution for Colnagos about 3 years back, but only for one year, they could not have moved much stock.

I think they sold a heap of Cannondales about the same time.

Does anyone think Cathy Watt looks like she stepped off the set of Lord of the Rings?

Russ Van Hout fined $20 for folding his race number
