Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

pisser....

Like the day I tried to get onto essendonfc.com.au or something similar at the office and some German p0rn had piggy-backed the webname.....

That little X up in the right corner is bloody hard to hit when you've got the cursor moving at warp speed...

I can't tell you because I'm not supposed to even think of looking at material like that. Expat can't tell you because he's a Mod and is not allow to break forum rules. So I guess it's up to you to venture in, have a poke around and report back to us.

For going to places with x's in the name. That's worse than saying "****".

Expat, want any second hand bike helmets to take back to the US?

Both helmets I bought in the States are not on the approved list in Australia so I cannot ride with them any more. Looks like I'll have to buy a new helmet.

Yeah, I need more stuff. Can't you use them for racing? My BMX helmet isn't Aussie standards, but I can still use it for racing.

nope, under Cycling Australia rules all helmets must have the Aust Std sticker, if you get caught out, you get kicked out of the race. You can't even train in one and expect to be covered under insurance if you crash. My helmets you can't even get here yet as they haven't passed the standards test yet. If you are keen we can talk $, they are:

Specialized S1 - white
Bell Ghisallo - white

Bikes: Wilier, Alchemy, Merida MTB,

My brother is over in Adelaide watching the TDU and dutifully sending me race updates via SMS...I probably should tell him to save his thumb since I can get more info via the live coverage on cyclingnews.com. Their updates haven't made any mention of the team tarts tho!

Sid Patterson GP Saturday night…..Mark French is going for a flying 200m time to get on the Games team…..and probably room by himself.

Gotta ride a 10.55 or better, I think.

There's nothing more boring than watching a road race. Stand around waiting for some dopey buggers to careen across the finish line, watch the pretty girls kiss the winner, then off to the pub.

It's even worse when there's a big breakaway. One rider crosses line 10 inutes ahead of chase group. Waiting... waiting... chase group of three cross the line 7 minutes ahead of the main bunch... waiting... waiting... doctor attends to solo breakaway rider... waiting... main bunch stroll over the line. Now we can get to the pub

What is a tyre? Is it anything like a tire?

Must be tough at that level. At the speeds they pull it takes a phenominal effort to improve times by even a fractino of a second. Many hurtees required

It's cycling, not F%@$#$! "biking"!!

Biking is big guys in leather vests on deafening V-twins.....

Don't you wear leather chaps when you go for a ride ed?

Also, someone should tell those guys that the word 'ride' is not a noun.

Calm down Ed... he was just making the point that there might be some risk involved with web based purchasing. For normal ppl that risk would be understood from the outset, but simple concepts like that often need to be bludgeoned into some yanks.

There's no such thing as a blem in cycle tyres is there? Apart from the crap tyres my LBS sells me for training.

10.5 is ripping quick. He'll have twin discs, full skinsuit, aero lid, shoe covers....the works.

Would be impressive to watch.

I can think of a few more boring things than watching a road race jock, but I know what you mean. Rather be there than here at work though. Watching the track racing at Vodafone Arena is good because the bar is in the middle of the track so it's just drinking beer while turning circles as the bikes fly past.
