Sid Patterson GP Saturday night…..Mark French is going for a flying 200m time to get on the Games team…..and probably room by himself.

Gotta ride a 10.55 or better, I think.

There's nothing more boring than watching a road race. Stand around waiting for some dopey buggers to careen across the finish line, watch the pretty girls kiss the winner, then off to the pub.

It's even worse when there's a big breakaway. One rider crosses line 10 inutes ahead of chase group. Waiting... waiting... chase group of three cross the line 7 minutes ahead of the main bunch... waiting... waiting... doctor attends to solo breakaway rider... waiting... main bunch stroll over the line. Now we can get to the pub

Dear Aussie

What is a tyre? Is it anything like a tire?

A Yank

Must be tough at that level. At the speeds they pull it takes a phenominal effort to improve times by even a fractino of a second. Many hurtees required

ed073 01-18-06 10:45 PM

Dear Mr A. Yank....

It's cycling, not F%@$#$! "biking"!!

Biking is big guys in leather vests on deafening V-twins.....

classic1 01-18-06 10:47 PM

Don't you wear leather chaps when you go for a ride ed?

Also, someone should tell those guys that the word 'ride' is not a noun.

Only on Commercial Rd.

Calm down Ed... he was just making the point that there might be some risk involved with web based purchasing. For normal ppl that risk would be understood from the outset, but simple concepts like that often need to be bludgeoned into some yanks.

There's no such thing as a blem in cycle tyres is there? Apart from the crap tyres my LBS sells me for training. :D

10.5 is ripping quick. He'll have twin discs, full skinsuit, aero lid, shoe covers....the works.

Would be impressive to watch.

:D

I can think of a few more boring things than watching a road race jock, but I know what you mean. Rather be there than here at work though. Watching the track racing at Vodafone Arena is good because the bar is in the middle of the track so it's just drinking beer while turning circles as the bikes fly past.

Well old nobhead here had a shocker this evening. Walked in the bike store to see if they had finished the service on the Roubaix, and walked out with one of these.

Bah, couldn't help myself. They had $2k on it and they gave it to me for $1.6k with a Surly rigid fork thrown in free for when I take the bike touring around NZ (they had it listed at $200). So for Bathurst it was a good deal, but compulsive buys are bad. Anyway, it's specced pretty well and it'll get some work so meh.
