Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Lots of restaurants and businesses here are now adding a 3% surcharge for using a credit card.

I first saw the 3% thing in AZ over a year ago. Quickly followed here.

Officially, they call it a "cash discount". Seems to satisfy the lawyers.

Today is cancer center day. Takes a couple hours but hope to get a ride afterwards. That's assuming no meteor strikes.

Most places I've seen who charge for credit cards DON'T charge for debit cards.

On the way home from KCB last night, I stopped at one of the cheapest area stations (Walmart) it was $3.04 per 3.78541 litres.

There's a big Weigels just up the street that's usually about the same price, but it was $3.43, which is in line with many other stations.

Bumping the thread for Billy’s sake (not the Japanese drink).

Did the first Alpecin ride yesterday and it was pretty meh. But I did lower my FTP on the site because if I any training series at fool FTP it wrecks me for a day. What a wimp.

For the truck guys. You know who you are.

This thing is currently plated and driveable. It’s a work in progress with most of the work so far having been done on the drive train, front end and suspension. He said he can lower the body to the ground when parked if he wants, just for stares.

My cancer doc wants me to lose 35# which is easy for her to say since the meds that I’m on cause weight gain. Anyway, my cancerous tumors (many) are being held captive by those same meds.

On the weight thing, I’m not a candidate for glp-1 because of having a testosterone level of 9 and she doesn t want me to lose anymore muscle mass.

Sound correct, docs?

Unlike the west coast it’s still winter here. Temps for the entire ride were in the mid 20’s. Luckily I did not put my winter gear away yet, so I was comfy the entire ride. It was 100% cold but 100% fun!

Not to be obtuse, but is there a good reason you were given to lose weight? At a certain point we have to look at quality of life. Forcing yourself to lose this much does NOT sound like 100% fun. Not even 50%.

Thirty-five sounds kind of arbitrary. Did you try negotiating with her?
