Nah......double chance coz of 3rd place finish after the home and away season.

climbo 09-02-05 12:12 AM

ok, so if they lose they play against another loser next week, if not, straight through in 2 weeks time I'm guessing.

That's it. If a top 4 team wins in the 1st week of the finals, they get a week off while the rest fight it out.

4 teams then play in 2 preliminary finals, to decide the Grand Finalists.

My guess is that it was his "sensitive" attitude toward the 'wind' victims:

I read that the other night. I nearly choked on my coffee when I saw it.

GO SWANS! If the Swans beat West Coast i have a feeling that they will go all the way. They haven't won it in like 70 something years (South Melbourne).

If they loose, they either play Geelong or Melbourne, who ever wins out of the two.

Open question, but directed at one person.

Did anyone happen to pick up a shiny carbon bike today, full Dura Ace, and Mavic wheelset?

MEET THE WALKERS

Saturday
Will Walker, 3rd in 3rd stage Tour De L'Avenir

Johnny Walker, 2nd in stage 7, Tattersall's Cup Tour of the Murray River - he is 16(?confirmation)

I am undertaking a petition for Bicycling Australia to sponsor their parents for a breeding program.

I know a certain brand of Scotch whiskey that may wish to headline their trade team.

sidenote: when Johnny Walker podiums in the Tattersal's stages he is listed as is, when he finishes in the bunch he is merely listed as: John Walker? intentional...

thunder 09-04-05 03:16 AM

btw, the bunch split, so Walker has a top ten result in his sights... not bad for a 19 going on 20 year old in his first full Europeam season competing against riders with 3 or 4 years in the pros or more in the elite ranks.

berny 09-04-05 03:35 PM

anyone we know among these?

Well look out mate, coz I now have 50% ownership on a trusty track bike. :)

One or two trips down to DGV are in order I reckon before FNWTR finishes up. Hopefully the missing wheelnut will turn up this week (don't ask).

What's the deal? First start riders must ride Div 5?

50%? So you need a wheel and a crankarm to complete the job?

The deal is you ride where you feel you can. I would start in 4 if I were you.

No, I need money (donations, anyone?) But the LBS reckoned he'd let me borrow it, except I don't think he told his lackeys and he's off on a skiing holiday. Prolly on the back of my frequent visits to his shop to part with my hard earned.

is this from your usual LBS where the Gitane was/is?

jock 09-04-05 05:02 PM

Affirmative.

The owner has another shop in West Ryde. Dropped in there one night on the way to Homebush to say g'day and before I could say "How much?" the shiny new track bike was in the shop at Gosford!

I went down last Thursday night armed with pedals, shoes, tape measure, camera and junior photographer to make sure frame was the right size. Fits like a glove. Youngest daughter doesn't like the colour tho. Also found out it has CF forks when it is supposed to be specced with alloy. Bonus.

So Jock, fill us in on Saturdays race?

I spent the day entertaining a mate and his 11y old kid on their first 'off-road' MTB. Kid was really good. It's hard to work out what someone that size can pedal up etc....While his dad was wheelying along changing gears.... damn... must learn to wheely one day!!!!

Sunday was a return trip to kincumba mountain in the rain.... man it was good to get cold/wet/snotty/muddy....

Thanks to Climbo for a cup of coffee and a biccy :D

Todays mission, drivetrain service.... anyone selling XT(R) chain/cassette/chainrings

Well, there were heavy crosswinds and McGee ended up losing 11:45 on the stage!!! Oh, you meant the local race.

I only did one climb at Akuna Bay in the morning due to puncture so I thought i'd better get out and do a bit more training. Got to Calga with 5mins to get changed and made the B grade start (only about 10 starters!!!) with about 30secs to go! :p Everyone looked at me as if to say 'who the faark is this guy?'. It felt like I was intruding on a family funeral.

Anyway with such a small field you would have expected everyone to cooperate, but no. Two distinct camps: those that wanted to race and those who wanted to win without doing any work. Werds were exchanged, less than sporting moves were pulled, and sitters were forced to the front despite their reluctance. All in all a fantastic and raggedy-edged race. I cramped up on the second climb of blood and finished about 500m behind the bunch.

Well it was on for young and old after the race. Werds were still being spoken, but this time you could hear them clearly from 200m!!! Most unpleasant. Worse was to come when 1st & 2nd were DQ'd for occupying the second lane.

Well I had fun anyway and accomplished what I set out to achieve for the day. Stuff them. :D

pshaw 09-04-05 07:03 PM

lol, sounds like fun. I though I could hear a faint "jock murray's a wheel snaffling, no good...." on the breeze...

Seriously, C & D grades are the same... almost no-one wants to take a spell for fear of losing the race in case they blow up. And if you are strong enough to take a spell and be around at the finish, you are too good so get up a grade and you can be a bludger like the rest!

rant...

I'm dropping off a shiney Scandium frame to the painters, does that count?

Sounds like you better come race with the Waratahs. Good size groups, plenty of competition and reasonable race etiquette.
What more could you want?
