Jock.... or anyone had a look at the Felt TK2 track bike?
Yeah yeah i already searched the forum and not much out there, plus I prefer an opinion from someone who counts i.e posts on this thread ;) |
Easton makes an aero tubeset for track and tri bikes. Anyone keen? ;)
Add Campy hubs, Velocity rims, Campy cranks, CK headset, Thomson stem and post, Nitto bars..... ......zoooooooom. :) Sorry, I hadn't pimped myself today so I thought I'd better squeak that one in. |

Naw, my super dooper active imagination adds that :p
Pity it doesn't translate into reality when I'm out on the road though :( |

Now for the dumb question, my roadie is 55cm, should I go 54cm or 52cm..? Dont tell me to get the tape measure out cause i'm generally clueless :o |

As for sizing I haven't got a clue until I see you on it. The geometry is diff to a road bike because the BB is a little higher and the seatpost tube is (generally) at a steeper angle. Go with what climbo's advice, or Thylo if he offers any. You will need to match your reach though. Start with the top-tube length the same length as your road bike, and adjust stem length, angle and height to suit your sprint position. Your BB (centre) to top-of-saddle measurment should also be similar to that of your road bike (irrespective of the seat-tube post size), maybe just a smidge lower if the seat is positioned a lot further forward than on your roady. Make sure the handlebars are the correct width for you. Stock bikes come fitted with stock handlebars. I'm guessing you'll need about 42cm, so you might need to change them if they are any wider than 44cm or if they don't feel comfy. |

homebush tonight jock? |

So yeah, exactly what jock said! Oh, except if you sit further forward, generally I reckon your seat needs to go up rather than down, because when you sit forward it encourages you to pedal less heal down and also makes it less possible to sit rearward in the saddle, reducing the effective saddle to BB height. As to track specific advice, I can't really help. Never ridden track in my life. However, as long as you keep your hands, butt, and feet in the same position relative position, I can't see how you can go too far wrong. |

I reckon your right on the forward/height scenario too. I was thinking about it after i posted and it seemed counter-intuitive. Drawing rotated figures on different frameshapes didn't help, so it seemed better not to confuse things! |

I'll be there for 3 or 4 warm up laps from about 5:15 if the traffic's kind to me. |

Oh hey. Do any of you dudes ever get exercise induced asthma? Did an adventure race on the weekend (we came 12th even with sucking so bad in the kayak it would bring you to tears). 4 hours of bludy hard work, then at the end of it, tried to cough but wasn't getting much satisfaction. At the time I was joking that my diaphram was broken. The event was at Canberra and driving home afterward, couldn't stop with the rattly coughs for ages. Got home and looked it up, and it seems to be exercise induced asthma. I've never had asthma in my life so I thought that was a bit strange. So just a common thing when one over-exerts themselves or somthing to look into?

Yep. It's quite common, but very different form the asthma every 2nd kid seems to have now. It was called "pursuiter's cough" when I first heard of it racing on the track. I only ever got it after hard efforts at (or close to) LT with rapid breathing. Criteriums, wheelraces, pursuits etc etc.... Sometimes hanging around for hours after training/racing had finished. Got a Turbohaler form the GP....fixed it right up. |
I've heard of it Saccy, but don't know anything about it. Seems to be the 'flavour of the month' in some sections of the sporting community, but Oz is a bad place for all forms of asthma and they haven't figured out why yet.
Mind you, there's a bucketload of germs going around at the moment. Basic rule of thumb: if in doubt then get checked out. |
