Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

That's impressive that thing weighs a little less than my fuji even though the frame is gigantic

thanks for the compliments. the carbon weave is gorgeous. from a distance it's solid black, under light looks almost like a kevlar weave.

Since I got this a little while back, I guess I should post it now that I'm officially a roadie.

My first Road bike. It's pretty fun. I threw some carbon bottle cage on there since this picture.

Hello all

I've been riding fixed gear and track for years now but have never really had a road bike to take any pride or joy in. This is my first road build. I managed to throw it together using just under $200 (due to some sweet hookups)

I'm very excited about it and it's been treating me amazingly. I lucked out on getting the frame for free. It's an 80s schwinn prologue made in japan.

It's a late 80s (88ish?) prologue (more info would be great!) When i got the frame i got most of the Shimano 600 components as well. The best part is the 80s mavic rim laced dt swiss to the 600 hub and freewheel. I replaced the worn down 600 deraileur with a lightly used dura ace and the chain rings are newer shimano as well. the bars are salsa, levers are 600, stem is nitto, seat post/saddle is thomson/fizik airione (from my track bike) and the front wheel is some ****ty stock wheel from a friends mercier kilo tt. Basically, there are some upgrades in the future that i'll make, but it rides great as is.

But yes, please, any more info on this era of schwinn [and the prologues specifically] would be amazing because i'm very curious.

Thoughts?

My CAAD 9

This is my CAAD 9. The wheels were a noticable improvement (not stock), so I've taken them for my new Scott Addict R1

I am new to forums and picture posting, so this may not have worked the way I had planned,....
