I've read that the new Silca pumps aren't made the same as the old ones that last 20 years. Everyone that has gotten a newer one says the air chuck doesn't seal well at all.

...that being said it is not as nice as newer floor pumps.
Recently I bought a Joe Blow Pro after using it at an event. So far I am very impressed and it is definitely the best of my floor pumps.

Looks to me the Zefal has larger diameter shaft, which means more volume per stroke.

However, you do need to grease the gasket every decade or so.

Read somewhere Jobst Brandt designed a multistage pump, and some company had designed a floor pump based on Jobst's ideas. Anyone know if any Jobstian pumps are actually on the market?

The Joe Blow Sport is a pretty good pump. I had a JB Pro and the gauge broke.
I replaced it with a Blackburn Air Tower 5. That is the king of pumps.

I've actually had to replace the leather gasket on my Pista once, or maybe twice in the past 15 years, but it gets a lot of high pressure track use. Been through lots of little rubber grommets, one (or maybe two?) of the plastic thing that holds the leather gasket in place, and one replacement pressure gauge (old one got bashed a few times too many and looked like it had an offset). I think it's still been less than the cost of a new pump, and it has a nice small cross section so you can get to 150 psi with one hand.

In fact, when I went to him initially looking for my first road bike (he handled Cannondale, Wilier, and several others), after an hour or more of discussion, he sent me to a builder in Alkmaar for a custom bike because he thought it would make for a better fit. Since there are many small builders over there, it ended up costing less than an OTS bike. That's the way to gain a loyal customer!

I am the bike maintainance officer for my PD bike patrol unit. We have 4 Joe Blows and they work well and we have had no problems with them for the last 4 years. We have one of the new Park pumps and it is the worst pump I have ever used, which is suprising since all the other Park tools have been great. The best floor pump I have ever used is the Specialized Air Comp. Its what the LBS uses and suggested when my old Blackburn gave out 4 years ago. I love that pump.

Still pumps great!
Paint job? Yeah, it could use new paint, but I think it just adds character to it.

I've got one on sale from Nashbar called Pump L'Orange and it's pretty decent. Regularly about $40 but often on sale for about $24. It's got a good dual (Shroeder-Presta) locking head and gauge seems pretty accurate.

Its awesome.. on a road tire, with the volume setting down, you can get it up to 60-70PSI pretty easily before it gets too hard to pump. Switch it over to the pressure side and it pumps pretty easily and seems to average about 9 PSI a stroke. It says 10 strokes to 100 PSI and that sounds about right.

I did some research and Joe Blow is the best. I have a Joe Blow and a Joe Blow Pro. The gauges are spot on accurate. With in one PSI. You may spend a little more, but for safety it's really worth it.
Also, some water got in my Joe Blow Pro during a storm. Topeak customer support sent me out a replacement gasket. Took them 2 friggin weeks, but they did it, no charge.
