NOT. You can't slam a flipped up stem!

Thanks! I bought the frameset from Smartcycles and had my friend who owns an lbs build it for me. I think it came out well! 😄

About those levers, the composite ones look fine, but I was wondering: why do you have them in the first place if the rest of the group is alloy?

Well, originally I had a carbon crankset to go with it which I ended up using to build a Park Pre frame (pic below); these have a bare metal look so the carbon is a nice accent on it. Let’s say it’s my one attempt to save weight :). This bike came out at an even 20 pounds which is great considering the components.

I also had been looking for Ultrashift levers to go with the 2010 Ultrashift RD and these carbon ones were the only ones I could find.

Hot!! People, pay attention. This is how you photograph a black/dark color bike.

Flipped up slammed stem will never be hot.

And a light, and a using a water bottle as a stand, and the wheels not positioned correctly, and a busy background.......

.... If you have got any money left over for a camera after buying that bike, LOL. In which case: can I have some?

Nice bike though, you should be more than 'pretty happy' with it. ;)

No disrespect, but why would you spend a fortune on Sram RED etap and HED wheels on an aluminum frame? Why not go full carbon at that point?

Nice bike though!

I can't speak for haggiszero, but I know when I put a bike together, I spend $ only on things I care about, and if I can save a few bucks elsewhere, I will. I can imagine someone being very eager to have etap without being too caught up in total weight - besides, 1.78kg for an asplosion-proof metal frameset is not too shabby. :)

Got a new S-Works Tarmac SL6 frame. Been accumulating parts waiting on this to show up! Got more pics if anyone would like to see.

Hot except for the chain

haggiszero 09-26-17 01:05 PM

I sold an old bike that I had built up for $1000. I used that money to buy the Trek ALR 6 on CL for $1000 that had SRAM Force --- thought this was a great deal.

I wasn't impressed with Force, had major front derailleur shifting issues with Yaw. Sold the SRAM Force on Ebay and used proceeds to offset cost of eTap + Red Crankset & Brakes. Really wanted eTap and Super Happy With it.

Then I also wanted to upgrade my wheels b/c I had 10yr old Mavic Kysriums that were narrow. Wanted wider & lighter wheels + plus really liked the aesthetics of the Black Brake Track. I didn't want carbon wheels b/c durability issues, I tend to keep and use the stuff I have for a very long time so I didn't want to worry about chipping or damaging carbon.

Everything on that bike can eventually be transported to a carbon frame if I want to go that route. Its very likely I'll use this groupset for the next 5+ years. I really like the look of Canyon road bikes so my thinking is that I might eventually buy a Canyon frame and swap my parts onto it. Hopefully they start selling just fram esets into the US at some point????

Then, I'd probably rebuild the Trek with 105 to have as a Crit bike and permanent bike for my Wahoo Kickr, using my HED wheels when I race and Mavics for when I want to ride crap weather.

Happy with that Trek ALR though, great geometry for me, and weights ~16.4lbs. It would be 16lbs if I didn't have Powertap Pedals on it. Won't assplode either!!

I've been patiently waiting for a hot bike and here it is. The geometry, size, clean lines, along with proper staging make this bike HOT. Take note people. I like the chain and the gumwalls, although I think I would have went with S-WORKS turbo cotton to keep the theme. Great job!

The paint scheme is different, loud and flamboyant.... 100%, my kind of build. HOT!!!

The lines definitely look even better in person, hard to see everything in just one pic but I didn't want to clutter up the post with five pictures. I do like the turbo cotton option, but these are tubular wheels and I haven't had much success as of lately with Specialized tubular tires. These Corsas have never let me down.
