I saw someone with Sagan Tarmac at my lbs few days ago. The bike was truly stunning to look at in person, the way the decal glows on the edges and all.

However, Aesthetically speaking it is not appealing at all. My first thought is that you got a bike too big for you. Obviously, I have no idea what your physical traits are or if there is a reason for this particular set up. so at the end of the day, as long as the bike fits you properly and gets you out spinning, that is all that matters. But as for a Hot R Not, I would say it doesn't cut the mustard for me.

Bike is bit too big for me. Why? Because I don’t have a slammed 110mm stem? I’m 42. Have had a neck fusion, but still ride 100-150 miles a week at >20 mph. I’m not totally aero, but I’m not 18 either. I wanted a stiff and light frame which i got, and my mph and power instantly improved on my bike compared to my 2014 S-works Roubaix.

Yep. I ride around White Rock Lake in Dallas and there are a lot of joggers on the trail and bicyclists I pass. Instead of constantly saying “on your left” like I did a million times before, now i just ring a loud bell and saves me having to say it out loud.

jitteringjr 11-28-17 11:27 PM

As I am well into my mid forties, I can forgive the stem thing. I don’t think a bike has to fit someone like a pro’s bike, two sizes too small with a 14cm stem to be considered hot looking. The bell, is something maybe I should consider myself. Every time I hear an unexpected ‘on your left’ it scares the bajeezus out of me even if I have no problem holding my line when startled so I know it has to have a similar effect on others and not all of them hold their line when startled. A bell doesn’t do that to me.

cat0020 11-29-17 06:37 AM

It's much easier to ring a bell to warn others then to try yell out when you are out of breath from pedaling.

BTW, this thread seems to be more about aesthetics of a bike as a total package, not about what function suit your needs while riding.. bell, short, uprise stems, need not apply.

You can slap on a slammed 140mm stem just to satisfy the audience of this thread.. it's the internet, you get picked on regardless what you do.

Which is exactly what I said. It was my first thought because all I have to go by is the set up. A stem that short AND with that high of a rise isn't exactly a standard/general fit. My very next sentence was "Obviously, I have no idea what your physical traits are or if there is a reason for this particular set up. so at the end of the day, as long as the bike fits you properly and gets you out spinning, that is all that matters". This thread is specifically geared towards aesthetics. Its not a key ingredient, its the ONLY ingredient. But I'll say it again, regardless of looks, this is a great bike with fantastic parts. I just dont find it appealing to look at.

I'm not much for bike bling or flashy colors, stickers, or that sort of thing. This bike looks really nice to me, sort of understated flash depending what angle you're looking from. Not shouty, but very cool.

I vote HOT! although I think maybe hot in this thread really means "Would Sagan ride this bike as is?" so maybe not hot.

I need to replace the saddle and can't decide if I should go with an accent color for the saddle, bar tape and bottle cages. Was thinking yellow but not seeing many yellow saddles I like. Red is easier to find but I'm not much of a red guy.

this is the nicest bike i've seen in a while. i have a matte black emonda sl6 with stock wheels but your carbon wheels look amazing. i might pickup a set now after seeing what my bike would sort of look like with these wheels.

yeah. i cant stop looking at this picture enough :love::love:

Chain on small ring.
Vale stems not aligned.

Please re-submit.

No thanks :thumb:

It's just a bicycle. You seem like a fun person.

You must be new around here. My comment was not anything out of the ordinary for this thread and, in fact, was benign compared to what other often write.

Looks like a MTB frame. Are you sure you're posting in the right forum?

some will dog it but I actually like this Scott, I don't really like the bars and the tape color but thats personal preference. Everything else is fine by me. Even the wheels with decals is okay on my end.

vandit and SydneyFife, maybe you shouldn't post your bike in a thread just for critiquing other peoples bikes if you're going to get butt hurt.
Race bikes shouldn't have bells or tiny stems.

+1 on the bars, but I'm kinda digging those from a color perspective. Maybe living in Japan has altered my color choices because so many bikers here have bikes that look like they were colored by a man in a suit thousands of kilometers away, so I like splashes of color (I have the green Specialized with blue stickers posted a page or two back) but the black and red bar tape kind of blends in IHOMO.

Well, about the flashy bar tape, it was just an experiment, after trying many alternatives of "proper" tapes.
