i think it is a very classy build. if it were campagnolo it would be just as i would build it.

not a huge deal, but a carbon crankset would create better contrast but changing for that reason would be silly.

Not a bf approved photo, but tell me what you think.

rotate bars up. Move shifters a bit down. Saddle forward a tiny bit and you're there.

It's hot, but it's no Scattante.

If it fits, why change just to appease the Hot or Not crowd.
It seems to work for him, I'd leave it exactly like it is.

Besides his next bike, the Advanced SL, is going to be hot for sure.

Bars and shifters are a little goofy for my taste and I'd go with a black saddle and bartape but otherwise this is a really nice bike. I love the colors, the wheels (albeit gaudy with the decals) actually work well with the bike, nice saddle/bar drop, etc.

It has black tape and I'm waiting on the black saddle now. Thanks.

The bars are rotated how they're supposed to be, shifters are within the guide lines on the bars - I had them lower before but they're much better lke this. Saddle is set up how it was pro fitted to be... It's mostly in the middle of the rails.

Yeah, it fits right. And the bars are how they're supposed to be, so not sure what's with that.

i think it is the bar curve that makes your levers look wrong. it looks like the levers clamp right on the curve.

i prefer my bars/levers in a traditional "flat" setup:
http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/k...m/DSC01109.jpg

your hoods appear to angle up. it is a good looking bike though

They're traditional drop bars, my favorite. There's no "flat" set up. The hoods are just how they are.

Thanks :)

mzeffex 12-22-10 11:07 PM

For examples, the levers and bars are set up pretty much the same as these:

It's just the shape of the shimano levers.. I don't mind it.

you can get "traditional" round drop bars that do not put your hoods at a funny angle. yours appear to be a shallow drop. i hear good things about them and they seem pretty common but i have hands the size of tennis rackets. deep ergo drops suit me best.

edit:

i think shimano levers make it look more pronounced.

It's a reasonably deep drop.. I wouldn't consider it shallow. 139 mm drop.

craigcraigcraig 12-22-10 11:15 PM

that titanium bike is not hot. tubes are wicked ugly.

Oh. Well, they seem deep. Whatever.

I think my almost 6 inches of saddle to bar drop make it seem deeper.

sorry, i was thinking poorly this late. mine are 145. i just double checked. yours are about half way between. i have slightly less bar drop so it probably evens out position wise, i just need more "hand room" in the drops.

that picture if my bar drop is deceptive:

I like the Helix and I like DA 7800, but I think this would be hotter with 7900. It looks like you already have the levers.
