This one has potential and it just sizzles for now. What you need is some maroon scotch brite from your local automotive store and spend a day or two on it. Give it the true Lynskey look! You've already scrubbed the Scattante off and now its partly shiny, no turning back now!

Thanks. I am in the process of putting together another bike right now so I can keep riding while I disassemble this frame and polish it. That should take care of the contrast between the polished titanium seatpost and the frame. Then I think a titanium stem will tie everything together nicely.

Cool! Since your bike is really a lynskey, I know Lynskey at one point sold the decal set along with the head badge for $45. I saw it on their old webpage which can be accessed here : www.lynskey.maycreate.com .

Dunno about Hot, but Huffy's look like they can handle their own out there. +1 for the balls on Posting a huffy on this thread, and another for making it work. Welcome to BF community Tonger and hope to see more of what these Huffy's can do.

I'm digging this. I would dig it even more with black bar tape.

Chapeau though.

I wish he'd have kept the original fork on there though.

This Lynskey even with the fiery flames seems half baked. Aero fork, aero seatpost, semi aero looking frame........ then you have non aero wheels that just dont go with the aero theme. Hot or Not? Its an "or" for now.

+1, bar tape doesnt quite cut it, black or white would look good IMO! Lynskeys always look great, but a nice set of wheels on a Lynskey is even sexier! Good job!

They are Serrotta's badged as Huffys. The 7 Eleven team raced on them and were sponsored by Huffy. Very hot - although I prefer them with the original equipment.

I totally understand the originality sentiment, the carbon fork is visually jarring. I wanted to run relatively modern stuff to see how it would ride and lost a couple of # (21# to 19#) in the process. It's an actual team bike but I clearly don't have the legs of the guy it was made for, I need the 10s and compact rings. From an aesthetic point of view, I was thinking of painting the fork and using reproductions of the team decals, or having a threadless steel fork made (much more $) so that I could keep running the more modern drivetrain. It's a smooth ride although definitely on the quicker steering side. I've got the heavy original fork, Wolbers, and the original 7400 DA group all tucked away.

thirdgenbird 12-20-10 10:42 PM

i dont blame you at all. the bike is being used, and the original parts are being "protected".

I had these for it, and yeah, the 808's gave me a li'll advantage my 404's nothing
The fork alone gives more and the seatpost more than you should imagen with
the turbulence between the tights, but yes. It looks better with a semi aero

Thanks - Only recent change is that I dumped the Look Carbons for Speedplay Zero Ti pedals. It's a blast to crank on.

What does the stem have to do with the drivetrain?

Bars and shifters are a little goofy for my taste and I'd go with a black saddle and bartape but otherwise this is a really nice bike. I love the colors, the wheels (albeit gaudy with the decals) actually work well with the bike, nice saddle/bar drop, etc.

Grambo 12-22-10 06:28 PM

Thanks for the compliment. One these days I'll get around to posting my Serotta Coeur d'Acier (more of a forrest vs. pea). I like green.
