lol @ buying your growing son a bike with an ISP

and if he's not growing anymore, you made a poor choice in frame selection

all the components are hot (except the tires), but the presentation is poor

Multiple sons???(Or he took the pic from somewhere on the web and is now saying it is supposedly his son's bike)

But anyway Ridley=not hot to me, looks weird for some reason.

But if that was my bike, that would be AWESOME!!

So while the others roll with their dork rides, that kid rolls with some Lightweights on.

Just give the kid the trophy. He wins on the wheelset/helmet alone.

Quote from that WW thread:

"My starting point was a Vitus 979 back in 1983 and below are the last 20 years of bicycles. A CF Specialized Allez Epic from 1989 which is still a nice ride albeit not very stiff at 9.8kg and my main ride for the last 10 years a Mercx AluCarbon 20th anniversary edition at 8.3kg.
I am training for a double-century ride here in Sweden on June 16th, last time I entered in 2003 I finished in 10:45, but my goal this year is to finish somewhere between 9 and 10 hours. If I don't make it, it won't be the bicycle's fault http://weightweenies.starbike.com/fo...icon_smile.gif"

The son is 64 years old. But since he was born on a leap year on Feb 29, for every 4 years he aged 1 year, thus number 16.

The OP on weight weenies also says that it's the first bike he owns thats worthy of being on WW, JSS on the other hand claims to have other bikes on Lightweights, claims to have that crazy Look, etc. I'm going with JSS being some broke poser.

Looks like the bike is Di2 equipped as well. Meh if I had a kid interested in cycling, I'd do the same... except no dorky TT helmet.

Inertianinja 03-02-12 09:25 AM

This is a bike i put together a while ago - the original had about 4000 spacers, a brooks saddle, a heavy steel for, and 105 with white cabling.
ended up selling it because it was too noodly for me.

This is my S2 - i've since switched to Vincero bottle cages and made some adjustments to the fit.

if i had the money to burn, i would put my kid on that bike purely for my own amusement. It's like dressing toddlers in little suits.

Or little dresses and tiaras decked to the 9s with makeup. I don't know. Doesn't exactly seem fair. I'd be surprised if there weren't gear limitations.
This is called vicariously living through your child.

MajorMantra 03-02-12 09:47 AM

You realise the kid with the LWs is photoshopped, right?

yea - that would be the darker side of it. in that case, you can imagine the father being really hard on the kid, telling him that winning was the only option, etc.

i was thinking more of just putting the kid on a nice bike just for the fun of it. like a little "mini freddy merckx"

They have the same kind of numbers on their back.

What made you draw that conclusion? All the telltale signs that it has been photoshopped are absent from the photo.

The bike is a KirkLee kids bike that you can purchase with the lightweights and di2

I stand corrected. From the blurring by the rear wheel and the sheer improbability of it, I was sure I was right, but I guess not. Bloody hell! In fact, here it is:

http://www.kirkleebicycles.com/2010/...-lightweights/

It's a one off.

It is JSS's youngest son's.

Here is an actual Picture of the bike being built with my name on it for proof. Where is the picture of "your" bikes with your name on it. Oh that's right, you can't, you don't own a bike......
