100% agree. Besides that it's a hybrid, it looks like a fun bike, the excessive branding on generic chinese parts make me kind of sick. An UD finish matte frame and fork would look 100 times better.

I don't see it @ all?!?
The geo is way off for a CX, how would you carry this bike in a race if you needed to? I don't see this as a bike I could toss over my shoulder.
I see a BMX cruiser(with gears), or a rigid hardtail(with road gearing, & cranks).
Don't see hybrid either, I use the term Hybrid loosely here, because this bike is a mix of all things cycling to me.
Strange, & oddly cool IMO.

OK a parts list.
26 inch MTB frame made by Giant, there's a long winded story to that so won't put you to sleep with it.
29er wheels, fits up to 38c tires in the frame but 35c gives ideal clearance.
Cyclocross fork.
FSA Compact road crank rest of the drive train XT- XTR.
I Beam seat and post, very light and more comfy that people think I've done century's no prob's.
XT brakes.
Total weight ready to ride 7.3kg or 16.1 lbs seems pretty good with disc brakes to me.

I thought of that but it wouldn't be different enough. :D

With a change of tires I'll ride it anywhere.

No generic chinese parts here.

I've been told it'd be hard to shoulder before but on some courses it might not be an issue if so then it would rip.
It's hard to put a finger on the exactly what a hybrid is but I call it a performance hybrid. The market is starting to supply this style of bike but not all carbon "yet" There becoming popular in the UK mostly, one of the best is the Boardman hybrid pro which Chris Boardman prefers to ride now days over his road bikes. Ridgeback makes a nice Titanium hybrid but it's still not as light as mine.

Ghost Ryder 07-03-12 11:47 PM

It's mos def different in a good way!
I'm wondering how that frame is a Giant?!?
(Fan of Giant)

It's also funny you mention Boardman..
I bumped into a guy riding a sweet looking CF road bike, something I've never seen before, so I ask where that bike was from.
He was an English guy, said it was a Boardman, & was probably one of the only one in town.
Is was a sharp looking bike!

I'll try and keep it short. Jerry Laio was possibly asia's best BMX turned MTB rider winning many titles around europe. In retirement he started his own bicycle company Jerry Bicycle Company "JBC"
Jerry always rode for Hodaka and stays connected with Hodaka who helped him start his brand which also made motorcycle's in the 70's, now Giant owns half of Hodaka which makes all the alloy frames for Giant, the Giant factory is dedicated to making carbon frames and we all know Giant makes frames for lots of brands including JBC which are very popular in Asia. My JBC frame is very good quality looking and weighs 1020grams not like those chinese no name frames on flebay.
Boardman bikes are awesome and can now be bought through Wiggle online, they use to only be available in the UK.

EdIsMe 07-04-12 04:56 AM

cudak, those bikes are all hot.

Nice, but spray painting red grafitti on the wall to match your bike is a little over the top.

echotraveler 07-04-12 11:58 AM

Wtf is happening here?
To all - NOT! Specially the hybrid.

Those vintage bikes belong on the vintage forum hot or not...

How old does a bike have to get before it is no longer a road bike?

Debadging the rims would go a long towards making it less busy. Black chainrings and solid cages wouldn't hurt either. With these tweaks, the colored tires may not be overkill.
