I like what I see but you should take a "correct" and better picture. For now , NOT!

That's my favorite China direct frameset.

But yes, with a tail wind and my 24 year old legs, I could get moving pretty fast. Had some kid on a Moped chase me down and yell, 'man, yer' goin' 33mph!" On the flat road, that we not too bad!

I own a Ritchey Logic crank that is made by Sugino.

I love the 54 for that little extra gearing it gives a vintage road bike as sometimes the conditions are just right when you can spin out the 110 gear inches for good long stretches.

I really wanted to get a lunch time ride in today but it was raining cats and dogs here in Brooklyn.... so I put on fenders. I ended up losing my Garmin Cadence/speed censor [zip ties weren't on tight and it slipped outward] I cranked right through that motherF'er breaking into pieces onto the wet pavement. I guess I'm lucky it didn't go into the spokes. I did manage to snap some decent pics of the bike after the ride though.

sheldon fender nuts for the win! sheldon fender nuts are brake nuts that extend outward and have a 5mm thread inside that you can put the fender bolt into - so you can quickly/easily put on fenders.

fenders may seem dorky, but damn they keep the drivetrain/frame clean. I was soaked through and through regardless, but at least the bike was spic and span after the ride.

Fred.

Just kidding. You can barely notice those fenders, well done. How did you pose your bike for that shot, photoshop?

if you look at the first shot you can see a thin bamboo stick holding up the bike from the crank. you can easily photochop it out if desired. I keep the bamboo sticks in my garage for bike photo oppertunities ;) .

The fred is the guy who doesn't ride in the rain.

The poser is the guy with fenders who still doesn't ride in the rain.

Around here, most teams have mandatory fender rules from october to march.

That's a great starting point. You know what to do, flip and drop the stem. Lose the reflectors and peel off any warning decals. New pedals. Chain on the big ring. Find a garage door. Then it'll be hot.

Be safe in your deployment, and thanks for your service!

Thanks for the tips, the pedals you see in the pic were only used to get my initial fit done. The shop I purchased the bike from is working with me and will redo my fitting when I get back from Afghanistan. I'm considering using Look Keo 2 Max Carbon Limited Edition pedals. As for the Stem, I did not know you could flip/drop it.

again thank you

Relatively recent picture of the bike.
Unfortunately the rear tire is flat in this picture. But I had my iPhone and was waiting on a ride home.
(For those curious, it flatted twice. Second tube would't hold air and had to call the wife.)

This is the first time I ever seen fenders that look good. Beautiful bike all round.

How do you like the November wheels?

MajorMantra 10-20-12 04:23 AM

That RB-1 is still one of my favourite BF bikes. It just works.

I like them. They are my every day wheels too.
I only occasionally switch over to my Williams System 30s when it's rainy or rougher roads requiring more stout tires.

The black on black style is now pretty common. This is the soon to be discontinued Z5SL.

Any tips?

Cut the steerer, other than that the bike is hot!

You are right. I'm not sure if I'll do that, since it limits options for any other riders if I ever sell it. But I should.

I also need to conform the seat tube. Enve is out of production on the 31.6 until November. Thanks.

Yes, your correct... That is always on my thoughts when cutting the steerer. Just cut and lose the 3mm spacer so the stem can be flush.

Nice shot and hot bike for sure!

This is plain jane and low end by the standards of this thread, but it's new to me and I love it so feel free to tear it apart!

that saddle is really far forward! I hate the look of Trek and still dont love yours but its nicer than most I see.

PatrickGSR94 10-21-12 04:44 PM

I'm gonna go ahead and call Hawt on the Trek, but the pic itself isn't so much, mainly because the shadow is pretty harsh and distracting. Makes it a bit more difficult to make out the details of the bike.
