I'm usually the one that always levels the cranks, has a white garage door, aligns valve stems, removes all accessories, and uses a dslr

today i was just too excited

Disagree. I think that it looks better with the gumwalls than it would without them.

Threadless stems on old steel are aesthetic fails. Get a proper stem and seatpost and you'll be good.

Spot on!

Gumwalls are pretty divisive. I am a fan of them personally, but after a few hundred more miles on these I am going to switch to Contis.

Thinking about a black stem and a black crankset, and maybe swap out the SRAM Red components from my other bike on this one.

Anyways, please carry on with the regularly scheduled discussion...

maybe a wet red seat post to match the stem? Ritchey makes the matching red handlebars, stem, and seat posts.

also from a pure aesthetic standpoint I've always loved the old school 1st gen sram rival (in silver) on steel/classical looking bikes. every once in a while a seller will have a whole 1st gen SRAM Rival groupset on eBay for really great prices.

At that rate, why not just get red tires (and maybe a Dalmatian to go with the fire truck motif)

My new should've been Allez Race...A 2011 S-Works Tarmac SL3 "Astana". Running 2013 SRAM Force Groupset, 53/39 Chainrings, 12-25 cassette, S-Works Seatpost and S-Works Toupe saddle. Regular Joe Specialized 110mm stem and Easton EA70 Bars...Pretty much what I had to build up the Allez Race...Oh, and Mavic Ksyrium SLS Rims with Armadillo tires. Overall 15.10 pounds...(without the tail light). I'm .02 pounds heavier than my buddies S-Works SL3 (and he's running 2011 Red), but new stem and carbon bars, I'll be good to go...I Love how it turned out...and how it rides too...:)

That's a beauty! I will give it a HOT! Despite the light. The Astana colorway is nice and not something you see everyday. Enjoy.

One of my favorite S-works frameset; you definitely don't see too many of these around. HOT.

Occasionally I come on over here and toss up a bike I pick up just to see what happens.

Is it me or has the 'hot or not' thread switched roles with the 'What road bike do you have?' thread?

^^I really want to go brush my teeth right now for some odd reason...

I really like the gumwall look too, but mostly on bikes that don't belong to me...

Agree on the Astana...above average S-Works hotness.
