False.

For proof, I quote my own bike, which is in fact made of metal, with high spoke, non-deep dish wheels, followed by a few comments.

Oh, and it did get a not or two, and I wasn't upset and it was my own bike.

Good for you, and I'm not upset either.

Just because I disagree with you, doesn't mean that I'm upset.

A "happy" stem like mine would help with both of those problems. Removing spacers would make both worse.

BykOfALesserGod 03-24-13 11:59 PM

I am pretty sure that it is only a bad picture of a nice Co Motion.

BoSoxYacht 03-25-13 12:03 AM

My primary ride, and I've flipped the stem since the photo.

Now it also has some Stan's wheels too.

It might have potential, but we can't see anything.

Not.

Show it as it currently is in a photo where we can see things and that might change.

The way you seem to be gushing over this guy, I'm rather surprised your not included in his photo!!!

Holy butt hurt. Can we get back on track?

"Hot" begins with quality Ti and meanders elsewhere.

My opinion but I don't really care about dissenting views.

;)

I'm no expert, but I thought this thread was "supposed" to be nice pictures of "ideal" bikes - sort of a photography as art thing. I love my bikes but would never post them in this thread, they don't fit the mold. Don't take offense if you don't get the reaction you hope for.

exactly.

All my bikes are FUGLY, and mostly stock, which is a big no-no when it comes to hotness.

+1 (kinda). I've done some upgrades and have decent looking bikes (IMO). But I don't think they are 'Hot' or anything special and this is a pretty tough crowd. I'm sure my spacers and limited saddle-to-bar drop would get slammed. Can certainly be entertaining in here though...

Or you could just lean it against the wall.

Otherwise, hot.

Anything with so many spacers is not even close to hotness.

Shame, because it (almost) is.

Several reasons:
1. The space adds a little bit of depth and makes the bike "come out of the photo"
2. I want the bike to sit squarely and be perpendicular to the lens.
3. It was on the display stand to begin with.

Have to follow "them rules" when taking proper photos of my ride :D

Otherwise, hot.
Thanks man!

Ok, guys real question for all the OCP's out there:

What is more acceptable for a non flexible guy like me? More spacers or a "happy" stem?

I realize that no spacers, deep drop and a flat stem is preferred, but that simply isn't possible for moi. SO... what's the next best thing? Right now, I have a carbon fork already cut with just one spacer in, and it's not changeable so I had to buy a 17 degree stem and install it up to get the bars where I need them...

PatrickGSR94 03-25-13 08:45 AM

I got to thinking... what's with all these staging "rules" anyway? Shouldn't we be voting "hot" for a bike that looks hot at ALL times, no matter how its rims or crank arms or yadda yadda are oriented? Why not call a bike "hot" if it looks so all the time, and not just for a photo, or a "not" if the bike just isn't hot in general.

IMHO the staging of the bike for a pic should not be the deciding factor as to whether it's considered hot or not. But that's just me. :)

*edit* like that one Cannondale posted on page 456, that one is hot no matter which way you look at it, IMHO.

plpete 03-25-13 08:51 AM

The Team Caad 10 is nice. Not to crazy about the handlebar angle. Still Hot.

You are welcome to make a thread for bikes posted however you wish. That is not what this thread is about.

This is rich.

But it might become his after he convinces his rich buddy that it doesn't fit him. Imagine how conflicted you'd be if you could possibly be getting a free green Co-Motion that will never be loved by bianchi101 or Whoooshiepants!

e_guevara 03-25-13 08:59 AM

For me, the "rules" I posted is more about taking a proper photograph (depth, lighting, point of view) rather than staging - where you take great efforts to make the photo "look" good. They're more of guidelines than rules. It applies to taking photos of almost everything (bikes included).

A general rule in photography is focus - subject vs. background, clutter, so as not to distract from what really matters in the photograph.

Let's now get back to admiring or slamming bikes please :thumb:

Herbie53 03-25-13 09:00 AM

The Co-Motion is a not and an eyesore... like a not with malice.
