Home made bamboo frame. First ride today.

Mix of new 105 and secondhand Dura Ace components. Open Pro with Shimano hubs.

Hot! I love the look of bamboo... Did you put this together from one of those DIY bamboo frame kits?

Guess I should have gotten the drop bars..... Haha

I like that diamondback. Not because it's hot by this thread's standard, but because it looks like a fun commuter bike (that would need to come into the office with you to avoid being stolen). Do you have a really, really long torso with short legs? That very low saddle combined with a huge head tube and spacer stack seems odd.

I guess I'll post mine since it just got listed for sale. I will miss it.

Not really. I'm only 183cm (6ft) tall but I've been told by tailors that I have longer than average arms.

Did you buy that Madone from the shop with those wheels? I'm impressed that they're selling the 2 series with those, I like that bike (probably because it's so similar to my 3 series).

Nope, the wheels were a present I bought the bike after our first 500 miles together.... well that sounded so weird and suggestive.

They probably would have helped with the wind resistance on today's first ride, oh well time to get some drop bars.

How do you plan to go about this and what is it going to be like cost wise in terms of getting new shifters and brake levers etc.
I guess the general question is overall how viable is it to convert a hybrid to road. Anyone know about this maybe.

Ghostknife 09-11-14 12:56 PM

I can imagine it will be expensive, if I'm gunna do it might as well get rid of the tiagra and go up to a nicer set up.

Hot, don't like the saddle though, looks kinda clunky, but like everything else.

Honestly, I'd probably start over if you want drop bars and a nicer group. But maybe if the geometry is the same (hybrid to rando bike) and you'd still want the disc brake set-up...

I like everything about the evo except those ugly ergo handlebars.

Zipp SLC2, that was the deepest drop bars I could find at the time about 6 years ago. Have two of them. Been moving them from bike to bike ever since.
