Congrats! Great looking bike. That top tube ensures the Cannondales are never going out of style.

Upgraded the wheels and swapped some spacers since last post. Currently sitting at 18.5 lbs.

i dig it. i think it would look a lot better with brown leather tape but you get a fistbump from a fellow 650 randiboi

which tires are on there, babyshoes?

sbxx1985 08-14-15 09:49 AM

That's hot. Excellent work.

I think the red accents are bad ass. In my opinion, the yellow/gumwall attempt detracts from the look, especially with the gold chain. I'd go black tires, although that might overly accentuate the chain. The Power saddle reminds me of the Adamo, but so what. And just to nitpick, is that tape on the rear valve and an Enve valve extender on the front? I gave up on them, even on my 65mm rims.

Thank you. My shop didn't have any 60mm valve stems so I had to get these. Will be swapping them out. The black tires would look great too, but I just had a specific vision I was going for.

How have those Enve wheels been treating you?

sbxx1985 08-14-15 10:16 AM

And what does it weigh?

Right now it sits at 13.7. That's with the heavy cannondale seatpost that I had to borrow from my buddy. Will be getting a superlogic seatpost and extralite. The seatpost alone should save me about 110g. The stem should save 20ish. New tubes will be another 20-30g. By the end, I'm hoping to break 13lbs.

The wheels have been amazing. Don't regret the purchase at all.

sbxx1985 08-14-15 11:07 AM

Breaking 13lbs would be sweet. But once you're in the mid 13s, my thought is you're pretty much there.

Good to hear the wheels are working out. I know you bought them from that nice woman wheelbuilder that let you try out a ton of wheels. Are they the 3.4s or 45mms? I thought 45mm, but now I'm not sure.

They are the R45s

I meant the rims. The classic 45mm or Smart system 3.4s.

Of the wheels I've ridden, the 45mm Enves are my favorite. Enve stopped making the 45mm and 65mm rims. I picked up a 20h 45mm rim on closeout at Fairwheel and had them build it with a Tune Mig 70. 636g. I'm using it in front instead of the 65mm with a 65mm rear Fairwheel relaced with a G3. It's been awesome.

That sounds nice! After I pulled the logos off, I was left with some ghosting. Not just around the edges, but the entire logo. I polished the wheels and it made the logo stand out even more. They look like a smart 3.4 now lol

OMG it's sooo hot I couldn't resist to touch it in real life. I'm clearly not an expert, but for me the red hubs with the gum wall tires don't go well together.

Mumonkan 08-14-15 12:09 PM

my beef is that theyre not gumwalls, but yellow walls. if they were actually tan i think it would be better

Or red if it matches the hubs. Cause I know those Ritchey bars have some red accents in them too.

That's why I thought they might be 3.4s. They look like black decals, which you have to custom order on the classics. That worked out nicely for you.

My 65mm set had black custom decals. When I bought the 45mm wheel from Fairwheel, Enve said they'd be willing to do a run of the same black 45mm decals so it would match the 65mm rear (even though they're not selling the rim anymore). But it was $150 for just that wheel, so I ordered a full set of 45mm and 65mm black decals for $75. Came out nicely in case you decide to add decals.

I wanted gum walls but the gumwall tires that I looked into are more prone to slices and punctures. I agree that a gumwall woukd look better, but this still gives me the look I was after, along with having a good flat protection tire. I have a friend that has a lightly used set of veloflex tires that I might get to throw on. I didn't want red on the tires. Anything other than the yellow (gum wall) or black looks cheesy to me

Mumonkan 08-14-15 12:42 PM

agreed, red tires = no bueno

corsas are the only good gum clinchers i know of, and ive heard people say theyre like tissue paper so i definitely get where youre coming from on a practical level

but im nicer than a lot of other people in here, lol
