Hard to say. Those photos are so "not," and unfortunately the bike looks like its just part of the clutter there.

Just finished last night. Need to route the rear brake cable to the NDS side but other than that, all she needs is a few rides to dial in the fit.

Here's my '88 Miele Latina Road Issue. Columbus SL frame, 105/Ultegra 10s mix.

It's a nice bike, and I would be proud to own it, but its not "hot". Lots of great bikes aren't "hot", but they are still great bikes. |

Hot or not? I would say it's not "hot".

Thanks! And I agree, I don't think it's 'hot' compared to some of the bikes here, but I'm really happy with how it turned out (better than I expected), and to be honest, I'm just posting it everywhere because I'm excited
Everyone wants a hot girlfriend, but a wife that is always good-looking and always there for you ... lower maintenance and all the performance. Enjoy the hot chicks when you are young, then settle down with the real stuff. Really, the only thing that is Not "hot" about it is the paint... and I like the muted orange. It doesn't look racy, it doesn't look classic, it doesn't look modern, but that bike will always work well, in all weather but snow, for ... ever, pretty much. |

That's the right thing to do with a bike of that vintage, IMO ... update the running gear and ride it for the rest of your life.

Used to have a couple aluminum road bikes, but hated how they rode. As a college student, I'm too broke for carbon or a modern steel frame, so a vintage Columbus frame that I traded a few parts from my bin for was a no brainer. As for the orange, I'm not a huge fan either, espeically since it has red splatter paint over a bright orange frame, which clashes pretty badly. In the future I'd really like to strip the paint and run it as a raw, clear coated frame with all the black/grey components (maybe with some H+Son grey archetypes?). That's the plan for the next round of upgrades, at least--but first, a new mtb. |

Finally got to ten posts. It appears this thread loves Trek frames, colored cable housing and compact geometry, so here's my new build for all to love and admire.
Got the frame for low $ from a cousin who works at Trek, and built it with my own stuff. The specialized saddle is a torture device (for me and my narrow sit bones), so it's going to be swapped for an Arione soon. Not sure if I like the white stem, but it was the only 100mm I had, so that's what I'm running. My old bike was certified slammed, but I'm getting old, so I'm begrudgingly experimenting with a spacer under the stem. That combined with going from a 56 to a 54 has made trainer rides more comfortable so far. We'll see the full results once the weather breaks and I can get on the road. Edit: Edit: let's try photobucket. http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/b...41915_tmp.jpeg |
Not for me
Nice bike and all, but I dont like colored cable housing or Trek frames. I dont like the exteme sloping top tube/Geo of most of the Treks. Also, have never cared for the seat tube sliding over the frame. |
Not for me either. It has potential, but as is, no. White stem imho looks pretty good on there. Seat tube is messed up. I think that white housing would look better and black tape.

Would be hot with black tape/saddle and maybe that seatmast thing too. |

Given the drop on your 54 looks like about 2cm, I'm not surprised you had to slam the stem on a 56.

Hot. I've never liked setback Thomson posts, and that cassette looks huge, but that frame is one I've always wanted. |
That GT is beautiful. It would take a contortionist to ride it, but it is still beautiful.
(No I do not like the bent seatpost ... oh well.) |
The GT is HOT!

Bike itself is hot. Seatpost looks odd on there but it could work. Tires are what ruins this. Needs black wall man, sorry. Swap tires out, and repost. Thanks.

Despite the adams-apple looking seatpost, I'm gonna say hot.
I have to agree on the tires, though... Although, if the blue logo/numbers stuff were not there, it might work. Also, put some electrical tape over the AXIS on the fork. |
