That was a group I was looking at. Also same problem on the seat post as the wheels. Seat post is proprietary on this bike. Everyone has to turn bikes into a billboard these days. :) Might see if Fuji has one without the labels.

Probably camera angle and it hasn't been fine tuned anyway. It's coming off. It's very comfortable and stupid light but it has a major flaw. It is a bib eater.

Nicely set up. I like the frame and love the radiant blue (impressive matching with the bar tape, but not sure that I like it more than plain black). Do not like the wheels - rims that deep look like out of place on a road bike, to me.

Thanks :) - yeah but the 86's are stronger which is good while I'm out of shape. Ok, so technically round is a shape.

The bike is sweet. Not a fan of the wheel logos and a lower profile front would look better.

I say it's very warm as is.

Overall, yeah, you're right, I hate it. :)
Funny thing, though: normally I really dislike that combination of blue and black, but for some reason, that matching bar tape is really hot, and pulls everything together so well that I almost like the bike.
Actually, no, I don't hate it. Sure, the wheels, frame and seatpost are grotesque, and the drive train looks like a train wreck, but put it all together and it is just a bad-ass lookin' bike: Hot.

leej88 03-27-17 06:06 AM

I didn't tighten the saddle clamp and it tilted forward whilst i was riding. :(

Current weight with Aluminium handlebars and Ultegra brakes come in at around 6.45 kilos.

That's 14.22 lbs for those who don't want to do the conversion.

Impressive.

And expensive I'm sure.

HOT.

Seat post you can just mask and spray with matte black plasti-dip from a rattle can. Don't like it, peel it back off.

Wheels less so, but if you have the patience to mask them (fine line edging tape from auto body supply) you can spray the wheels too, but maybe not worth the effort.

I like it overall.

Not really a fan of the crankset(I don't like the silver rings), and those wheels look ridiculous. Could you find some longer presta valves?

im not a fan of the style but atleast its consistent in execution. e.g. dont like the stem but it works with the whole package. saddles a bit pointy and the light detracts. 9.0/10

I want to change the cranks anyway (crank arms too long). Suggestions welcome. Tempted to just go Ultegra 6800 and be done with it. Yep need to get some tubes with shorter valves so the extenders don't stick out so far. Those have removable cores though and have sealant in the tubes so I might run them for a while. However - no excuses in the Hot or Not thread.

5800 or 6800 would be my choice. It depends on whether you want black or dark gray. 5800 is hard to beat for $86.

Maybe an FSA Powerbox if you are interested in getting a power meter at the same time.

CX bike turned into everyday bike. Painted the frame myself.

^ 10/10 for paint
^ 0/10 for skinwall/gumwall

It's hot, until you start looking at it. Stem, seatpost and saddle match each other, but don't match the bike. Red pedals look good, but not on that bike, they don't match anything. Valves not at the 6 o'clock position. Good garage door backdrop, makes the bike pop, but also makes things that don't match pop out more.

5/10.

Not quite full on road bike, still with free pedals...

Well....Atleast it's not a venge.

Actually, the way things don't "match" actually works. The frame is its own thing and makes the boldest statement, but its look doesn't stray where it doesn't belong. The tires are their own thing, as are the pedals. The stem, seatpost, saddle and cages make for another little ensemble. Nothing is forced, but everything sort of gets along. It's nice. More sweet than hot.
Nice paint job, prankster.

Yes. I'm not a big fan of the Gulf racing colours in general, but this bike just works. Some little detail on the down tube might make it even better, but it would also be easy to overdo it.

Interesting use of negative space in the composition of the photo. Lot more than I would use but you followed the rule of thirds well.

Orange/blue coloring is interesting and remarkable that yo did it yourself. For some reason I really like the Ultegra cranks and how it works with that dark grey color. You might have just convinced me of the cranks I'm going to get next.

Only thing I don't care for is the gum wall tires. For me they distract a little I think.

Hot.

SP and Stem needs to be painted/coordinated to match.
i get the black-white theme going on but doesnt mesh with the frame.
curved fork is meh but what can be done now.
RD cable housing needs trimming.

4 for result + 2 for effort = 6/10
