It's a nice bike, but that saddle tilt is absolutely ridiculous(and aerobars always look stupid on road bikes).

BTW, why no water bottle cages?

Hahaha. Fair enough ;)

Thanks braddah, I was too. A bit like "WTF?!?!?" But it's all good.

I'll try different tilts for it, but on the first ride it felt much better than my my Specialized. So at least I have that going so far. That weird beak on the front put me off, but it is really comfortable on the aerobars. I know they dont belong on a road bike, but I can pound out 50km comfortably. I kinda don't get why people dont like them on road bikes, but I dont really care about that as long as I am comfortable and they work for me.

As for the water bottle cages, I dont like the Star Trek looking plastic or carbon ones so that leaves me with the really cheap aluminum ones. And THAT would draw even more gawks hahaha. So, I keep putting it off because my route (actually, anywhere in Japan) has quite a few vending machines that pretty much negates the need for them. I can just pull off the path and get a drink for $1. With a black and silver bike, there isn't much color options for me so a cheap, black $5 aluminum holder might find its way on the bike even if I am going to hate it. I just cant see spending $50-$70 on a titanium one that I saw in a shop here. Its nice, but dang!

Uhhh, no.

a flatter tilt wilt put your weight back onto your sit bones, and take pressure off your junk(and reduce the weight on your hands).

Velo Orange makes some nice stainless cages https://velo-orange.com/collections/...ess-steel-cage

Performance also has one Forté Strada Lite Stainless Road Cage - Performance Bike

Why not? That bike fit me, so from a technical starting point it isn't gong to be too far off.

Thanks braddah. I will definitely tilt it back to start with and give it a ride.
I will check those links and see if I can come up with something that doesn't doesn't seem obtrusive or stand out too much. I went overboard with my Specialized and gonna try and keep it toned down with this one.
Edit: Stainless is good

I thought for sure you were going to say you didn't need cages because your camelbak held enough liquid...

you may have to adjust the saddle height a little, but a flatter saddle is a good starting point. Look at some photos of that saddle on other bikes. You won't find many pointing down like yours.

this is a good example

Those plastic/chrome dust caps are ugly aren't they? They will be changed to some nice ones soon. The cross chaining is cuz the pic was taken at the top of a small but steep hill at the end of the ride where jumping to the small ring and also downshifting would result in losing all of the momentum. Its just easier to upshift 2-3 times for that 80m or so. But I do agree that it makes better sense to use the proper gears for climbs, particularly long ones.

I can still adjust the bar, stem ...etc. It is my first build though.

Lay off my aero bars though :P

I think if you lower your saddle slightly and nudge it forward a bit you'll be able to level it just fine and your fit will improve.

noodle soup 12-04-17 12:13 PM

As to the handlebars...

The levers are a little low on the bars, and the bars are rotated up to compensate for this. Changing this will bring the drops back into a more useful position.

Maybe this will finally get this thread locked and someone will start a new one with rules clearly posted at the beginning so people will read them and quit posting "comfortable" bikes. Maybe even a warning in the title. Warning: your feelings will likely be hurt!

Do you mean something like this?

This forum is for presenting your bike in all it's glory to be critiqued by other members. If you have thin skin, best to post your ride in the original Hot R Not, where criticism is limited to "not".

Some guidelines:
1) For best results, stage your bike properly:
a) against a neutral background
b) drive chain out with chain on large crank and one of the smaller cassette cogs
c) cranks at any angle except 90 or 45 degrees
d) remove seat bags, water bottles, lights, etc. (we really just want to see your bike, not your accessories)
e) valve stems at 6:00 and, if possible, tire logos properly aligned on rim.

2) Be prepared to handle criticism and not take this thread too seriously.
3) If you must criticize try and be constructive and not mean. We all can enjoy a good ribbing now and then and some tongue in cheek humor, but let's not get carried away or make it personal.
4) A "not" should be followed by a pic of your bike. (Unless you've posted it here previously)

(if I left something out, let me know and I'll add it)

I've been through the gauntlet with my bike so I can tell you, it's not that bad. Just have fun, post your ride and let's enjoy.

That's fine. I'll still race ya ;)

Huh what? You ask people to rate your aesthetic appeal, you find out you have no aesthetic appeal, so obviously aesthetic appeal must be a racist thing?

Srsly?

Exactly!
That's what I mean by starting fresh. I've been through every page in this thread and know the rules (which is why my bike is not shown here!) I don't think that very many people who have posted, in about the last 6 months, have read the 1st page. The not hot and butt hurt posters far out weigh the actual (IMO) hot bikes posted over the last 6 months.

What racist response. You have some serious issues.

Heh. For S&G's I went back and looked at the early pages of this thread, which was started in '08. So interesting to see how the look of bikes has changed over the years. Unfortunately, so many photos are being held hostage Photobucket.

What I dont get is the verbiage. Maybe they just aren't intelligent enough or have enough manners to offer an opinion without trying to be intentionally butt hurt about something as simple as a bike.

I take it you hadn't read the first 1,022 pages of this thread before you posted. It's sorta what happens, why it's fun to visit here.
I have a nice comfy laid back Ti bike also, wouldn't think of posting in here because it ain't hot by the Hot r Not standards. No use fighting it.

Hurts my eyes to look at this mess of a set up. Only good things are that it has Campy on a Ti frame. Saddle set up has a limp look to it for sure. Seat post is fugly. Aero bars on a non Tri bike went out of style about 18 years ago...

What I don't get is the amount of posters that go 'just got a new bike, still dialing in my fit lol' along with a poorly lit photo from a strange angle. Taking a decent photo of a bike is not rocket science, nor does a bike require a totally slammed setup to be hot (although it never hurts). This is the Hot r Not thread, not a please give me sympathy for my poor setup and terrible photo thread.
