Those are some great looking jerseys and color schemes. Same subdued thing I like about the Garneau Lemmon II, but better.

Yeah, I've looked at the Isadore website often and am looking forward to checking out the quality. $75 is a good price for wool. Really wanted the yellow but out of stock. Tracking says it should be here today so I'll be able to report back.

I've also ordered something a little more racy. Rosso Corsa from Castelli.

Tim, please let us know. My wife likes to wear 100% merino wool shirts year round. She says she might like a wool cycling jersey, but it's hard to find any that are cut for women, and she doesn't look so good in a men's jersey. These Isadore jerseys are only 36% wool, and that might be just fine, so I'm interested in hearing what you think.

Full set of Kool-Stop Mountain Pads for the touring bike.

Before that, Rapha merino wool base layer.

I'm. Confused. Your asking him how his women's jersey fits? 😉

noglider 08-16-18 01:15 PM

Heh. No, I'm asking what he thinks of his men's jersey, i.e. the fabric and fit. But never mind. I sent the link to my wife, and she said they're not appealing to her. I found a company in Europe that has some, and there is Rapha. That's all, as far as I can find.

Are you looking for 100% merino or merino blends? I can't recall any 100% off the top of my hear, but there are a ton of merino blends out there.

TimothyH 08-16-18 01:33 PM

For the record, this is the Isadore Signature from Wiggle.

wiggle.com | Isadore Signature Short Sleeve Jersey | Short Sleeve Jerseys

The jersey is super soft and somewhat stretchy for wool. It has the same feeling as a wool sweater, something you don't want to be incredibly rough with. Even so, workmanship seems top notch. Seams, zipper, etc are stitched nicely as shown. Front and back are the thicker wool textile while the side panels and sleeves are a thinner, stretchier fabric.

This isn't a racing jersey. For example, the cuffs on the sleeve are doubled over and substantial. It is going to be really nice with a long sleeve base layer on a crisp autumn day. It feels like a comfy sweater. I'd wear this if I had to ride to Church, to the coffee shop after work. Or on a date. :)

Size seems much closer to street clothes than some of the racing focused gear out there. I take a large t-shirt and this large jersey fits nice but is not tight at all except around the arms a little. My biceps are average. I would say it fits very true to street clothes.

@noglider - you and I discussed wearing cycling clothes during non-cycling activities. This is definitely a piece I would not be uncomfortable with outside of a cycling setting.

Everyone loves photos so...

Thanks, @TimothyH.

And @WhyFi, I don't know for sure if my wife would like a merino blend. Probably. Pure merino or blend, what women's jerseys do you know of? As I said, I've only found two sources.

TimothyH 08-16-18 03:02 PM

Maybe Vulpine - Merino Cycling Clothes | High Quality Vulpine Merino Wool Cycling Clothing | Vulpine | Vulpine

7Mesh should have some high tech wool blends.

Kitsbow is slightly mountain bike focused but their stuff is high end, very functional and understated.

Specialized makes some wool jerseys.

canklecat 08-16-18 04:10 PM

@TimothyH -- Thanks for the photos. Great looking jersey. The zippered inner pocket is a nice touch too.

The fit sounds like classic 1960s-'70s. When I watch old films of Eddy Merckx in that lumpy, baggy Molteni jersey I wonder how much faster he might have been in a skinsuit on his one hour record.

But those old school jerseys sure looked good. Wish I'd kept the subdued green merino wool jersey I bought in the mid-1970s. Never thought I'd ride again and gave it away about 15 years ago.

noglider 08-16-18 05:11 PM

Thanks for the references, @TimothyH!

Just bought a 32 Oz. bottle of White Lightening Clean Ride from Amazon for $31.20 after sales tax. I'm going to start using this instead of Boeshield T-9.

In your opinion. Which is fine. Don't buy one.

Congratulations on the purchase of your new bell SylvainG - you're going to love it!

So two days ago, as I was riding on a road that is crossed by a trail popular to runners, I saw a runner wearing headphones (cover your ear type) emerged from the trail (trees are blocking the view until about 5 feet from the road) while I was about 75 feet from him. He was completely oblivious that he was off the trail and about to cross the road. I rang my bell once and he stopped like you would see in cartoons with both heels forward (was funny to see :) ). So what they said is true, that bell IS heard through headphones when the ringer is fully depressed.

Although "spendy" you do get what you pay for! It's loud but not annoying. The sustain of the ring tone is second to none. The Spurcycle Bell is an awesome accessory that will last for years.
They make great Christmas gifts too (for the discerning cyclist who has everything.)

Yeah, I ring the bell a few seconds before passing someone and it still rings a few seconds AFTER passing them. That sustain is also good when announcing your presence in blind corners. Most of the time, you press once and it ring for the duration of the corner.
