+1 and Quiznos isn't much better. After eating at almost every Subway from Cleveland to Colorado Springs, I've found that they all skimp just the same.
There is a sandwich shop behind the shop I work at that has some awesome stuff. My favorites of theirs are the Monte Cristo, The Cuban, and The Pilgrim (a turkey sammich with gravy, mashed taters, and cranberry sauce).
On an unrelated note, now that I think about it when I was in Colorado Springs, there was this AWESOME noodle place. It was like the same restaurant as Chipotle, but with all different kinds of noodles. From Thai to Italian, if it was noodles, they had it. Do any natives know the name of this place and if it is a chain?

I've done the math the lowest caloric count you can get on one of those burritos last time I checked was 900 I think, you ate 1800 calories after your ride? A foot long subway club with double meat is about 850-900 I believe. I think you might be grossly off with your calorie counting, not trying to be a dick or anything but most people are. My buddy just stated casually counting his calories, he had gauged 1200 calories for the day when what he had for breakfast with me was easily 500 alone.

Absolute BS. You can easily get a 650 calorie Chipotle burrito.

add cheese, sour cream, guacamole, and you're at 100% of your saturated fat allowance for the day!

We run into major time crunches around here too. I typically take a whole bag of chicken breasts (6lbs) from Sam's Club and grill them all at once so that it lasts us for 3-4 days of meals. It goes into pasta, on bread for sandwiches, into salads, etc. It's saved us money and more often, it's saved us from stopping by for fast food and keeps us eating healthy.

We stick to pretty simple meals around here that don't require a lot of prep...pretty much grilled chicken or fish and rice, pasta, beans and lots of salads. Oh...and quesadillas. Lots of chicken quesadillas!

Having been to all said places, my vote has to go to Chicago, deep-dish style pies.
The other pizzas in NY and New Haven are nothing to sneeze at.
None of them has "bad" pizza.

Botto, don't mess with Difara's, seriously. Old school, done right.
You guys in NYC are overlooking a better source than Subway. Your local Bodega. A hero at your bodega is $3.99 and you get Boar's Head Turkey Breast (or your choice of meat) with all the veggies and/or toppings you want. I also get tuna where they open the can in front of me and make it to my liking, on the spot. That's only $3.50.
Definitely worth a look.

Panera's = MMmmmm. I love their turkey bravo.
As for quick prep stuff, same here. At home it's just my wife and I plus my daughter who's just under two. I like to cook, but on the days of the week when we are both working it's easier if we can just whip up something fast.
So we'll cook up a pound of pasta before hand and that will last us 2-3 nights of dinners.
Rice same thing. Just microwave some frozen chicken and vegetables, throw them in and voila!
Ramen Noodles are good for a quick meal in a pinch also. They cook in like 2 minutes. I don't use the flavor packets that come with them, I just use some beef bouillon and boil them in the broth for flavor. Throw some veggies in the microwave, mix them in with the noodles and again, voila!
Easy, inexpensive and hopefully a little healthier than fast food.
