Hey Berny, they've cancelled the Masters Interclub Series ( http://www.nsw.cycling.org.au/body_m...-Club%20Series ) due to lack of interest

pshaw 06-29-05 07:54 PM

Anyone fancy a mud-bath MTB in Kincumber tonight? :D

Geez, I would have loved to have joined in Paul, but I have to stay at home and ... ummm ... do the housework. :p

climbo 06-29-05 08:52 PM

Geez, in that case put the kettle on, I'll need a cuppa by the time I get to your side of the mountain.

jock 06-29-05 09:47 PM

BOM declares "rain to clear overnight" for a nice (if a tad soggy) Friday.

no worries, what time can we expect you?

I'll leave the hose out so you can rinse off before coming inside

jock 06-30-05 03:40 AM

Interesting though I'm not surprised. It seems the Waratahs, probably the biggest masters club in Oz, were not consulted by the organisers. I don't think any club was.
There have been some strange things happening at CNSW particularly with masters racing. I'm new to it all so I don't really know the details but there seems to be a culture of secrecy evident by a lack of communication to interested parties.
My wife is now WVCC secretary so I'm learning more about what's happening and how it all works.
Kerry Ruffles has yesterday requested a meeting with our management committee which may be part of the new process to get more people involved in a more open style organisation.

I was doing my usual grind down Beach Rd on Wednesday night, and one of the guys I past could've easily been some "ordinary", fit, club rider (it was a bit dark, so I didn't get a good look at him) just having a spin.

A couple of minutes late I noticed he was behind me, so we got chattin'.
He mentions that he's more into triathlons than cycling, so I naively and ignorantly
ask what races he's done, etc, etc, and he gets around to telling me
he was 3rd at the most recent Forster Ironman!!

Turns out to be a guy named Mitchell Anderson, who was 11th at the last Hawaiian Ironman!!! :D
Good bloke, too. I had no idea :p

Most ironmen seem to be top blokes, deadly serious about their sport but always ready to have a laugh (usually at someone elses expense!).

Doesn't sound surprising from what I've heard. Hopefully Kerry can shake things up and get cycling back into some sort of order.

I'd be keen to get a weekly DVD from Ed if ya keen. Whaddayareckon?

There's no way in hell I'll be getting up at 1am to watch the TdF live. Heck, I only ride a road bike because it makes me fitter for mountain biking :D

... and in other breaking news Police today arrested a Melbourne man on charges of copyright fraud. The man, dressed only in cycling shorts and a mouldy 7Up jersey from the early 80's, is thought to be the head of the infamous TDF DVD racket.

jock 06-30-05 09:12 PM

err... no. Delivering children to their grandparents for the school holidays. Bachellorhood arrives for another two weeks. So I won't be racing at all this weekend, and I won't be around for the coffee run. Send my love to all the wimps that stayed in bed last week!

pshaw 07-01-05 01:16 AM

Well, just back from a lap of Kincumber..... :D

Theres nuthin better than starting the weekend with an early mark and memories of ridin in the mud back home!

Well it's official, the mountain is muddy... The more I ride up there the more I'm getting to like it, even if I do need to climb around 5 ridiculously steep (short) sectons to get to the fun stuff...

Anyway, Have a good weekend all.... Saturday is looking like a heart attack..
