Wow!! you were there?

For memory, he was a bit out of shape, and pulled out at the start of the climb.
How did the promoters feel about that?

How did you go?

ed073 04-12-05 11:32 PM

I pulled out about 15 km later. No way I was getting to the top of Mt Buller after 250km.

He didn't get to the climb....rolled to the side of the road and stopped.

I DNF'd. Can't remember who won....Jeff Stewart or Udo Bolts or someone.

A mate of mine got on TV for SBS at the start at the Rialto and said:
"It's cool...it's like playing basketball with Michael Jordan."

Dont worry, I too asssumed with a name like rockmuncher he would ride MTB... although there are rumours he may partake on the 25th...

Unfortunatley I wont be around, scored myself a trip with work back home for a week :D

Hey Thyla,
Food shopping on the weekend I noticed a new brand of fruit juice called 'Willies Juice' all the way from Tazzy with a nice thylacine image on the label. Are you diversifying?

I'm not even going to comment on the name.

I feel so late and left out, but for those that asked, the Lake Mac BMX track is supposed to be one of the best in Australia. It's well maintained, and well laid out. The Masters class, for 30 and up, generally sees 2 heats for each race, with about 10-12 guys showing up each weekend.

Who is still on for Bike Forums > Road Cycling > The Aussie Thread Official Anzac Biscuit Day MTB at Glenrock ride? It's not enough that a seppo hijacked the thread with all his talk about fat tires and BMX, I have to actually drag you guys into the dirt too.

There were three nominations and as there were 101 members present, one of them either had to get a majority of 50+ or there would have been an elimination vote for the two highest.
One vote was enough, Kerrie got 50+ first time round.
He seems like a very good candidate and IMHO will make a good President.

great ! hopefully track night will be on again like you said on the other thread, I can't wait to race at the "Dunc", and I should be able to get some training in now that I work close to home. Paul definitely does a great job, not sure why the "Fed" doesn't like him, something to get in to when I have a few spare hours to talk to him :)

HDTVKSS 04-13-05 06:01 PM

ok, after last nights ride and freezing the proverbials off ( seemed a lot colder than it was this itme last year...) have decided to take the plunge and get some long knicks today .... Question is, are 3/4 length ok for sydney winter? or is full length more appropriate?

From Britain: Women 'not impressed' by daredevils

"DAREDEVIL men who believe they can attract women with their reckless behaviour, should think again.

A survey of 100 men and women by researchers at the University of Maine, showed women are not impressed by bungee jumping and other risky types of behaviour but actually prefer men who take fewer chances.

"Men thought women would be impressed by pointless gambles, but women in fact preferred cautious men," New Scientist magazine said today.

One theory to explain risky male behaviour is that men are showing off their strength and bravery to woo potential partners.

But researcher William Farthing said women prefer high-status males to risk-takers."

Since when did women ever come into it? I always thought risk taking was supposed to be a (stoopid yet entertaining) game of one-upmanship between blokes.
