+1. It doesn't matter if you guys don't think it's hostile, if women are uncomfortable then it's a problem. I guess in the future when I come across unfortunate posts, I'll let them know what I think. I may get jumped on for doing this, but we need more women around here saying "Hey, that's not cool."
Of course, the insensitive posts DO give me a nice source of rage to draw on when I need to hammer...

Yes, if women are uncomfortable there is a problem. It is their problem, and the fact that women are in general used to getting their way and being treated differently due to societies conditioning. So when they are treated the same as everyone else they are often offended.
Women often treat a man in a way that would get most guys flattened in a heartbeat. Why do women get away with this? BECOUSE MEN WANT SEX, that and the fact they know they will not get flattened because society says that is taboo.
Deny it if you will, but it is true. It is just like the today’s kids that pretty much do what they want … why? Because they know there is not a damned thing that their parents can do about it. No repercussions, entitlement = bad behavior.
As a society as long as we go along with this we deserve what we get. I believe everybody should be related to based on what they bring to the table, not based on their sex.
Do I want more women on this forum? Makes no never mind to me one way or the other, but I will not be going to sensitivity training anytime soon.
I might also add that the times I do see post by women over here all I see is guys falling all over themselves to be as helpful as possible. Believe me most guys that posted the same question would most times not get a response or get a smart ass answer. I have often thought that when I wanted to actually get responses to a serious question I should set up and 2nd identity and pretend to be a woman.
Disclaimers … yes I am generalizing and there will be exceptions, but as a general overview I feel I am pretty close to the mark.
I’m going to go shave my back now

While I can understand your sentiment, and must agree that responses were, at best, sophomoric in many cases, I also have to pose a question. Would you, as a woman, enter a man's locker room and try to conduct a conversation on the adequacy of female sanitary products? Obviously not. That is a topic that simple common sense tells you will only degenerate in ANY predominantly male environment (aside maybe from gay bars, I doubt they'd respond at all). If BF wants to lower the "hostility" level, then establish a "men's issues" section. Banish all pics of attractive female riders to this area. Banish all "my _____ hurst after a ride" topics to this area, banish all questions about men's clothing etc. to this area. On an equal footing, if there is a woman's area (and there is) then promote it (how many women post in this forum trying to FIND it? More than a few!) Any woman who expects knowledgeable commentary from a 90% male population on the topic of cycling skirts needs to post on alt.rec.cycling.transvestite.fashion.
Fair or not, everyone should know that the equivalent of yelling "fire" in a crowded theater will NOT yield positive or constructive results.
Some, (much) may indeed be the "men are pigs" "thing" but some is also unrealistic expectations, and SOME is also lack of "user friendliness" when it comes to finding areas set aside so women can avoid us "pigs."
By the way, at https://www.bikeforums.net/index.php there is no search option at all and a "find on this page" turns up NOTHING for the word "women". If I were a woman looking for women specific cycling info, I'd give BF about 15 seconds, make this discovery, and return to Google and my search.

A lot of the posts in this thread say that if women don't like the "hot chicks on bikes" or similar threads, then they should avoid looking at and posting in them. I agree with this. But men should follow the same guidelines and not post in a female-specific thread if they are only going to trash it.

Bike Forums is not a men's locker room. Female cyclists should be able to post questions without having men pollute the thread with immature posts.

Also, when did this become the first place that women are treated the way they are by men? I'm thinking they are kind of used to it from the outside world.

The handful of female-specific cycling threads I have seen all went downhill pretty quickly. That is one reason why I personally have not posted any in the Road forum, and the same reason a lot of those in the Women's forum give for not posting in Road.

It has not been moved to Foo because it is a discussion about the perceived environment of the Road forum.

Don't you think that might have something to do with it?
And it works both ways by the way. More often than I see women treated poorly on here, I see men jump to help them because they ARE a woman. And I have seen women flirt like hell on here. And just like it might be a small percent of the women that do that, so is it a small percent of the men that scare women away.

Ok, so I'll be the one that looks like an ahole for pointing it out, but your title says you are a cougar, you have a dominatrix avatar, you say you are on the prowl, and your sig says you are looking for a new toy.
