Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

A character who hasn't been seen since episode 1 of this season. Interesting.

She left an impression. God help me what a dumb show. Idiotic till the end. They get points for consistency. But it's never over. They're already talking about a friggin movie.

While at the ToC yesterday and walking around between circuits, a bike fell over with a gust a wind as I walked past. I went over to pick it up at the same time as the owner. The bike was the latest C offering from Motobecane. Built up with Ultegra, I couldn't help but notice how truly nice it was. I explained that I owned the AL frame version for a time, and while the AL frame design itself was rather pedestrian, this CF frame was quite nice. A lot of engineering went into it. His response was, "It's alright for what it is." The unspoken message was, "Yes, I know it's a Motobecane, bought off the internet from BD. Whatever." See what BF has done?

Speaking of falling over, I witnessed two non-pro cyclists falling over while on the climb. One slowed too much to avoid hitting someone and the other one shifted and his chain got stuck between cogs, and they both couldn't get their feet out in time. The first one was on the ground for quite some time as he couldn't unclip, even with the help of some bystanders, and the other was gently lowered to the ground by a passerby.

There you go! Admitting you have a problem is the first step in the recovery process!

Bikes: Have two wheels

The shame... better take the road bike out today, or you'll have to move to the MTB forum.

Mountain bikes are fun, get over it. More fun than road bikes, often, as long as you are actually mountain biking, not riding a mountain bike on the road.

horse poo is better than dog poo. it doesn't stick to your legs as much. i put this down to the high straw content. Another example of why fibre in the diet is so important. Cleaner poo.

This is the first time I've had two road bikes and both which I like so I must admit it's tough choosing which one to take out, though I must say the Orca is my favorite since it feels so much easier and nicer to ride. I rode my BMC yesterday and today and I don't know what it is but it takes more effort to spin up than it does with the Orca; the BMC is heavier but it's not a tank either so I'm not sure if it's the wheelset that's the difference.

I do wonder what will come first, Lindsay Lohan's tragic death, or a bottom to her drinking and drugging that convinces her to get sober?

I hope for the latter, my money is on the former. Very sad state of affairs to watch somebody so young and so blessed with fortune and fame hurtling towards the abyss.

Oh well. The band played on.

What the heck is a "Runtime" error?

I upgraded a program, it tells me I need to move the existing data file. But when I click OK I get a Runtime error and it closes the program.

Runtime errors are usually program bugs -- contact the software's tech support.

It means a lazy programmer somewhere didn't properly handle an exception
