Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Like a fixed gear except you can forget to pedal, particularly on downgrades, and then you get near-instant terminal chain suck. I rode back west about 5miles (concentrating hard to keep the crank spinning on the long downhills, partially riding the brakes) and Mrs. Pcad came and drove me home. Then I swapped wheels and rode another 45 miles.

Probably a vapor locked free hub pawl. I have a spare free hub.
Pcaddy ... you keep buying that off brand stuff like Williams and Shimano and Cervelo.

I dont think you'd have those kinda problems if you road with Campagnolo and Cinelli .

this thread is as mind numbingly stupid and awful as the eurovision song contest going on right now.

I rode by this thing today:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_W...rations_Center

Though I didn't see squat besides the sign at the entrance and a bunch of barbed wire fence. It's about a 1400 foot climb to the top of the hill, so I wonder how deep that bunker goes.

Without the schwag procurement hand wringing and gloating, what possible reason would there even be for this idiotfest?

I'm looking at a quarq. Can you start a thread for me and then keep it going? I'm too lazy for that.

It's worth noting that a Quarq is more expensive than what I paid for the entire rest of my bike...minus the wheel upgrade. This sport is stupid sometimes.

Bikes: Something Canadian, something Italian, something American, and something German

Oh wow do those look good.

On that note, for those who have lost weight: I feel like when I stop attempt to losing weight (I've lost just about my goal of 25 pounds, and am slim now, so I'm good) I will gain weight. I want to stay the same. How is that possible? I feel like there are two options: Lose or gain.

I ride lots and then drink a lot of alcohol and eat fried foods. I still lose a bit of weight, but it's fairly steady.

I encountered the worst bike salesman of all time today btw. I was at Performance helping my sister buy an entry level hybrid/cruiser bike. Within 5-10 minutes he told us about how he was fired from another local bike shop, how he wears a full blue kit and everyone calls him the smurf because he is short (he was quite portly, so I doubt he actually rides), and the kicker: he told my sister that women's bike seats are wider because "they have larger pelvises, and they have larger pelvises to support child birth..you know, the uterus, a baby has to come out of there." I have no idea what kind of idiot thinks of bringing up a woman's uterus when he is trying to sell a woman a bike.

my right ass cheek is slightly scraped and turning black and blue. God I love my mountian bike only 8 miles but 1000 feet ascent, felt good. It was a bit wet. Ate it twice, once on mud, once on a bridge. (the wood was a lot worse than I thought)
