Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Hey Pcad,

Did you see that CNBC special on fatness that aired last night? There's a new anti-obesity drug that may win approval later this year.

I can see it becoming your newest addiction. Hey, it might beat bulimia.

We had one eff of a storm come through during my ride this afternoon. I was at the local metro park when it came in off the lake. Wild doesn't even come close. At one point the winds were well above 50 mph, quarter size hail three different times. I was taking shelter under one of the over sized gazebo's with a large extended familyprobably 40 people, as the worst of it swept in. They lost their entire barbecue, food, coolers, tents, everything. The lightening was the worst, at least 2 strikes hit inside the park. One was maybee 200 feet away, looked like it hit a tree. I can still see it when I close my eyes. Not my best planned ride ever.

I t used to be like that alot more when I was younger. I must admit, I havent had one like that in quite a few years. I just remember when they come in off the lake like that its not going to be any spring shower. And they come in backwards, most time our weather comes fron west, southwest. This one snuck in from the southeast, caught everybody off guard.

Does PBK send you an email saying when your stuff shipped? I was kind of expecting one today.

Alsoooo is the volcano still affecting shipping stuff?

The volcano is only spewing steam. No longer a problem.

so yeasterday around 2:00 pm we decide to build a deck/patio (deck 6" off the ground). This is something we had been considering for a while and some lumbar was on sale so we said why not.

Deck is built approximatly 16'x13' with a additional little 4'x3 foot walk out section by 5:30 pm today. Dear God I am sore. Very functional very cheap and it it falls apart in >5 years it was worth it. Now she wants fruniture. I am also adding a 13'x4' flower box/ garden on the side.

Sounds like your lumbar is sore from hefting all of that lumber.

Furniture is the easy part, unless you will be building your own.

Spent the weekend in Quincy, MA visiting my daughter and her boyfriend. We spend Sunday wandering around Newport RI, a favorite place of mine. Wonderful weather and time. Ate very yummy fried clam, whole not the pathetic "strips"...sheesh, plate with an equally good Sam Adams Summer Ale and a Harpoon Ale as well. What a great weekend.
Didn't get to ride my bike either day...left the poor girl home...

I thought that it was good... not outstanding, but good... although there was a bit of a 'does anybody know WTF is going on here?' vibe that could turn people off.

We went to the theater to see 'Robin Hood'. Even R. Crowe couldn't save that dog. Worst movie I've seen in years.
