Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

If Razor doesn't change his pretentious new BF name back to Razor, he should be banned like the Ryan F wannabe he is.

+1 or 1 more as the case may be. The new name was briefly amusing, but it's over. Keeping it now is like leaving a doppleganger profile pic on on Facebook...

Kinda like if Ronnie Wood left Helen Thomas on his page... funny at first, but ultimately just creepy.

It rides like a brick. At least that's what I thought at first. Now after six months I find it feeling a bit mushy at times. I LIKE it now. Go figure. Suffice it to say that no matter how stiff CF may feel at first, it has some road shock absorption capabilities that alu frames do not. The last bike this stiff I owned was a late 90's Cannondale CAAD 3, and that bike always rode like a brick.

Still no garmin... I'm getting excited and kinda worried that it got lost/stolen from my porch.

A great coworker of mine gave me a book; Bike Racing for Juniors. That was really nice, I've read some so far and it's quite interesting.

pcad, if my race plans work out as expected I will be a 4 by the end of July.

race 7 -6/19
race 8 -7/3
Race 9 -7/4
Race 10 - 7/10

maybe 1st TT 7/11

Race 11 - 7/18

then maybe 2 mid Aug

Should I upgrade ASAP or wait till the end of the year (almost all the fields around my are combined 4/5 anyway)?

Just don't crash.

I am pre-registered for the 35+ race in Prospect Saturday, along with 60+ other guys. That means the field will be full (I think the limit is 100). That's a big field. That's good for Uncle Pcad. Plenty of wheels to grab. Slightly more crash danger of course.

By the way, a 35+ race is just like a 1-2-3 race, but with more pathetic 50 year old morons gasping at the back.

They should have 50+ races. Maybe I'd give it a try.

In the TT's I do the 45+ guys are often faster than the 35+ guys. I'll be more competitive in the 55+, two years away (my racing age is 53 this year). In the meantime I'm racing myself. Besides I really riding that TT bike.

Hey, not for nothing, but my time Saturday was only good for 6th out of 7 guys in the 50+ TT Sunday. In the Cat 5 field I would have been 7th out of 15 guys, or faster than half the field, and most of those guys are much younger than 50. In other words the old guys aren't so slow (besides me).

Maybe you should look into a recumbent now. We don't want uncle Pcad to take a spill.
