Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

i'm not sure if you've seen, but there's an article floating around which stated the reason he 'abandoned' his world champions jersey and shoes after the TDO was because he put them up for auction for a friend's child who suffers from cerebral palsy. say what you will, he seems to be a pretty stand up guy.

OK, so if this complete hearsay alleged rumor is to be believed, then he's a stand up guy who behaves like a jerk to keep cycling fans entertained. But I find it more entertaining when he displays his considerable cycling talents. They were in evidence today as he won Stage 7. Well done you Aussie Prima Donna.

Hey, when you ride like that, everything else is fine.

Glad you're enjoying the bike.... mate.

Fark me I can't believe I said that.
yes, me old mucker. I think it looks identical to the BD Ti. It came in a box from China. It cost me £900 (including 17.5% VAT) so you can work out how much it would cost you now the £ has fallen again against the $. The price included richey WCS fork, richey wcs headset, richey wcs seat post, and fizik arione. RRP on these bits would easily come to £400 to £500. On top of that, they give a 15% cashback in the form of gift voucher that got me £135 worth of future purchase. All in all, it was too good an offer to pass up.

I can't say the faster ride today is the frame. I did have better wheels than previous. I deliberately rode the same route that I had done 3 times just prior to my cambridge century disaster. I hadn't ridden for 2 weekends due to torrential rain and yet today I was riding like a god. I even dropped a wheel sucking fred poseur nazi.

Perhaps it was the Kinder, Gentler Pcad emerging after a week off the bicycle. Or was it the lack of sufficient heterosexual activity in his happy but mundane marriage? Two things were clear: it was time to get back on the bike, and it was time to get laid whether he needed it or not.
Hey pcad

what is that big outlet near you? My bro just got back and he told me he went to a huge outlet and got me some running shoes. What an idiot. I don't run.

F me. Flatted on my ride and it screwed up my tire too, which made me flat my backup tube half a mile down the road. Had to call for an emergency evac for the first time. Once I pulled over I realized there was a guy 100 feet up the road who flatted on the same crap (large rocks that a construction site was using for a temporary driveway had spilled into the street, and I couldn't avoid because a car was passing me there).

I'd gone over 2k miles without a flat, so I was due for one, but damn, that's a $70 repair to replace two tubes and a tire.

Can't get a GP4 and two tubes for less than that at any local shop I'm aware of. Of course, I'll just order it from PBK and I'll be under $50, but if I didn't have an extra set of tires and couldn't wait, I'd have to buy local.

It doesn't take that much of a wind/temperature change to account for a 1 mph speed difference.

Hey Pcad,

Do you know that original Mets broadcaster and Mets Hall of Fame inductee Lindsey Nelson was from UT? In fact the baseball stadium here is named for him.

So there actually is something to be proud about with the Mets.

I specifically buy $6 tubes and $63 tires at the shop to support them. I figure these have high margins and it isn't really worth it for me to wait to get them from overseas.

I just went with the HTC incredible for my foray into the smartphone market. It has to ship (they are sold out) but should be here early June. It looks pretty neat.

The Slice TT cockpit is dialed in, new aerobars, they don't move around, more comfortable, got rid of the wired bike computer (now it's the Ptap head unit with the rear hub or the speed sensor in the front if I'm on the Zipp tubulars without the Powertap so I have a speedo).

I like the look of that new Joule head unit Saris came out with. Very cool. I want to read some writeups on that first.

I get like that all the time, fast rdies are starting to abate somewhat, but my race this morning has my stomach filled with butterflies. My wife coming isn't helping matters, but at least I will get some pictures to show you
