Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I stopped feeling that way once I accepted that every rider I'm up against on every ride or race is probably faster than me. If I get dropped, oh well. But if I stay with them or beat them, how utterly humiliating for them.

Think different.

Not yet. Very rough night last night with the tooth extraction site. Feels like it has calmed down today, but I got zero point zero sleep. I'm going to try and catch some shuteye now.

Resting the legs, watching the Giro, doing nothing at all... life is good.

I just got back from my ride. For the first time (in the 400 miles I've been using it) my Toupe has caused issues. Pain and numbness specifically. Wtf?

mine was doing the same. I adjusted the angle of the saddle slightly down relative to where it was before (still has more up angle than down) and the pain went away.

That's possible. I got fitted the other day and he moved the saddle a bit.

Hey Pcad, One of your teamates made the trek down to south jersey for the BLP crit, he looked like he could have used some help, He was the only Bauer guy there. ( masters 35+ Black bike with Lightweights). I only stayed for a few laps but he looked pretty strong. (pictures later this after noon)

Are shoe covers (aero, not warmth) common at road races/crits? Or just Time Trials?

I see them on group rides as well. They come in handy to protect your shoes too.

Correct.

His strength as a cyclist is eclipsed only by the righteousness of his Bike Schwag (do you know anybody else who actually races on Lightweights?).

Said same team mate (Alan) is in this photo below. Please note that he is behind me in the picture. I treasure these moments, they don't happen often.

Did you look better than the Mets? Marlins just finished the 4 game sweep. Imagine if they spent even half the money the Mets do.

On the bright side you may not have to wait until September for that collapse.

I wonder how Beavis would fare on a road bicycle. He looks like he would fit in.

At least on BF.

New Casa Cad deck furniture. My cycling season is unraveling like the Mets' season, but at least I have a nice place to go and unwind. It's like having a living room in the tree canopy. Like Avatar, without the blue people.

This weather is getting ridiculous. The last time I saw the Sun was mid-April, and I think I'm starting to suffer from Vitamin D deficiency
